Haha
I know. Had to make the joke, though.
I can't believe we're rolling with 2 guards
and 1/2 a Wes (who is our only small forward). Could be verrry scarrry.
Rick should send out the lineup we've all been praying to see
Ricky, Williams, Love, Darko, Pekovic.
What could possibly go wrong?

I still can't believe there's a band that (almost) uses that line as their name

Keep her away from KLove and RRubio. Actually, keep her away from Wes as well.. don’t want him having any more kids at his tender age.

That even if Kevin and Ricky were single, they are smart enough to know that they can find a girl who is just as attractive and yet is not a reputation-ruining narcissist. Ellington as well, I suppose. They’re all pretty good looking guys who also happen to be pro athletes, but holy crap have they already done well for themselves.

Bringing honor to uncle rico's family since 2011.
I only caught the last few mins of the half.... so fill me in who is looking good, and whose looking bad
Best players so far
Ellington and Darko
Worst players
Randolph
Everyone has had their ups and downs in the little I've seen
Darko is blocking shots, but the usual on offense (one nice pass to a cutting rubio).
Rubio has had some wild shots but hit a 3 and had an assist to end the half.
Pek got called for an illegal jump stop (nonesense) but otherwise looked decent on offense.
WE didn’t get defensive rebounds…
Ellington looked mostly good with one wild shot I can think of.
Williams I haven’t noticed too much.
starting to
not so much tonight. He still gets lost/is slow to rotate. As all rookies do/are
He who rides a wolf cannot dismount.
We don't need to trade for a 2 guard.
We already have Ellington.

Don't Look Now
Only 4 turnovers in the first half
Apparently
That wasn’t counted as a turnover. They gave Dallas a team rebound. D-Will took that from Rubio though. The unicorn would be on pace for a triple double otherwise.
Perfect.
momentum is a teams best weapon. An 8 point swing AWESOME
O really, you think your funny well Fukudome!!!
Rubio shooting question
Is there a significant difference in his shooting numbers when the shot comes off the dribble vs off the pass? Not so much for in the lane, but anything 16 ft beyond? It seems to me he does better off the pass when he is set better.
So does pretty much everyone.
by Ray Williams? on Jan 25, 2012 8:42 PM CST via Android app up reply actions
Right
which is why I asked for numbers (if anybody has them) to see how big of a difference there is.
Agreed
He looks a lot more comfortable off the pass.
by they_are_who_we_thought_they_were on Jan 25, 2012 8:42 PM CST up reply actions
To be precise
He appears to look better on slow set shots. Jump shots are wild for him.
Yeah
Sometimes he does that thing where he’s dribbling around and no one is on them, then he totally stops, gets his balance sets up and fires a slow motion 3 that goes in
by princelyfrank on Jan 25, 2012 8:45 PM CST up reply actions
There was an article
About Rubio at the beginning of the year highlighting that one of his weaknesses in Europe was that he can’t shoot off the dribble, but he’s a decent spot up shooter. Can’t remember who wrote it or were I saw it. That article broke it down statistically though.

Ok, it's been bothering me for a few days, so I decided to look it up.
As far as I know, the reference was coined here on CH. A cursory Google search would seem to support that notion (although not definitively).
The term ‘unicorn’ predates it’s current usage, and had been used by several people, mainly SnP, in reference to DWill, Biyombo, Darko, Christian Ponder, etc – but never Rubio, until, 12/16, when, out of nowhere, Ebomb uttered those now famous lines at the top of the page.
Well done, sir!

We all have to think playoffs this year
Playing great with 2 close out players and lots of injuries. No more wait till next year. Maybe not serious contender for title but playoffs, yes

Condos & houses around Lake Calhoun
would be our MiniHollywood.
For what it’s worth, I’ll be at the Laker game, and I’m salt of the earth. Also not a fair weather fan, and I’ve got the handle to prove it.

dbsmyf, I expect you to represent then.
I swear there will be some ridiculous individuals there. I have lived by Lake Calhoun and I certainly have never seen their ilk.
I meant, if you have like a "local" stars system that go to the Wolves' games
Sorry for the repetitions, but my computer went mad
by LobosfromMadrid on Jan 25, 2012 10:12 PM CST up reply actions
We don't really have stars.
Athletes from other sports (retired and current) maybe? Prince on occasion? ;) The Fifth Element/Rhymesayers crew (none of whom I have ever seen announced at the Wolves games)?
There aren’t currently any big Hollywood types living in the Twin Cities that I know of.
That makes sports' teams and cruel murders at the center of the news
It’s better than in Spain where the center of the news are gossip, then soccer (well, only Real Madrid and Barcelona), the some politics, and more gossip from outside Spain.
by LobosfromMadrid on Jan 25, 2012 10:21 PM CST up reply actions
Pretty much.
We haven’t had a lot of cruel murders lately (mostly just kids shooting kids over nothing :( but occasionally.
We also have a lot of political news, local and national. MN is historically a very politically active/aware state.
Ah...I don't think so. The wolves aren't really that popular in this town.
Also we don’t have very many celebrities. The ones that do come from here usually disown their history :P

It was so awesome that when I flicked back on league pass to find it, I managed to hit in blind first time on the slider. It WARPED TIME AND SPACE.

Impressive thing about Ricky in this game is ...
.. that he played 46 minutes and up to the last one he was doing FULL COURT DEFENSE.
Thats very impressive.
Other than that, the shooting woes will continue as long as all the other scoring options are injured. Thats OK though, nows the right time to get experience.
Ricky was playing opposite one of his heroes
think he wasn’t psyched up to play Kidd?

What a win!
Ricky is the best quarterback in Minnesota since Tarkenton. The most poised rookie(ish) player to hit the league in years. After tonight’s marathon performance he deserves peeled grapes, happy ending massages and rose petal strewn walkways. The nice thing is the kid won’t expect any of that. He’ll just be looking forward to the next game. Absolutely marvelous BBIQ. Off the charts. He is, along with maybe DWade, Blake, Nash and Rose the player that is the most fun to watch in the game. It’s no surprise that Rubio logged those minutes, even discounting the dearth of guards, RA knows a good thing when he sees it. Speaking of which, kudos to Rick for realizing that this is a young guy he can trust. In an epic instance of understatement the Wolves were extremely fortunate to land him. Just thinking about the Wolves future makes you smile. How long since that was the case? You must respect(!) Kevin but you have to love Rubio.
