Looking at Wilson Chandler
We all recognize the need for an able wing and many are looking for a trade to get one. My thoughts lie with a free agent signing. I like the idea of holding on to as many assets as we can so we are deep and can let Adelman figure out who's worthy of keeping.
The name that keeps coming to mind is Wilson Chandler. He's stuck in China and is a restricted free agent, but now that Denver has paid Nene, Gallinari, Afflalo and even Koufos, I'd have to think they don't have the money to match a strong (i.e. slightly above market) contract offer.
I've been a fan of Chandler for some time. Why I like him with the Wolves is that he plays strong D, get can to the hoop, shoot well, and play both the 2 and 3. For real. And he turns 25 in May. Chandler also strikes me as a pretty egoless guy who would fit well in our humble corner of the world. He's part glue guy and part star who can fill it up from time to time.
Now I know we don't have the cap room as is, but we could unload a few underperformers to make some room. Perhaps fire up the amnesty, no? Seems like a totally doable move for an eager team.
Would also love for some stat geeks to weigh in on the matter.

I've thought about him too
But I can’t find a statistical reason why he’d be “the answer” at either wing position. The best stretch of his career came in New York last year when he played a lot of small-ball PF for D’Antoni, and even then his WS/48 was only a .094. That’s only slightly better than Ellington.
Is he better than anybody currently on the roster? Maybe. Is he worth what it would take to get him? Probably not.
He's 6' 8" for one
So that’s a big difference. He also strikes me as a guy who went through really challenging situations (NY is a cruel place to be drafted) and is poised to blossom, a la Gallinari.
My hunch is with Rubio and Adelman he’d be a stud.
Think I talked myself out of him
Think Beas can do the trick instead. But I’m a Beas fan.
Is Koufas really worth a 3 year deal?
Sorry I know its non-Chandler related.

"Is Koufas really worth a 3 year deal?"
On THAT team? Probably. For their style of play, depth is so important to Denver, so the couple guys playing 10-15 minutes are kind of vital. And they get GOOD production from them. Actually amazing produvtion…
Koufas: 11 minutes: 4 points, 4 rebounds, .5 steals, .5 blocks and solid defense.
Faried: 10 minutes: 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and even better defense.
Anderson: 14 minutes: 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal and good defense.
Wow
Koufarson is a pretty good player: 35 Minutes, 13 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.5 steals.
Michael Beasley is a Small Forward. Derrick Williams is a Power Forward.
And all 3 have drtgs between 92 and 98.
That’s phenomenal production from the very end (10th, 11th and 12th men by minutes) of their bench.
Normally I think depth is overrated, but not how Denver plays ball.
I was sorry to see us lose Koufas
he had a very obvious upside. Super tall dudes need a little more time to finish growing and getting it together. Barring injuries, he’ll have a decent NBA career.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
yeah Denver was smart enough to extend him
3 years $9mil.
I have suggested him
In a couple of posts. He’s better than any other wingman on the team. He’s not as selfish as Beasley. He’s a good defender, he’d be a great fit. I think he can come back in March. I think a team making a playoff push in the east might end up overpaying him.

I have always liked Chandler on this team
I don’t know how we get him, but if we can we should look into it
I don't know what an art house is, I don't know what goes on in an art house, I have never been in an art house, and I can't imagine it's any place I ever want to be.
Chandler vs. JR Smith....
Do you think Chandler would be significantly cheaper than JR Smith? I just think JR Smith is a better basketball player and much better fit (play style). He is a good shooter, more of a natural 2, athletic and not that old.
There are certainly other things to consider with JR Smith…
Will he stay out of trouble?

JR Smith is a more productive version of Beasley
I don’t disagree that he might be a better basketball player. He surely has more talent…but that talent comes with a price. He is insane and not a great teammate.
Would you rather have a slightly less talented player who is still pretty good, or a massively talented head case like Smith?
I’d rather go Chandler, but if you feel Smith is the right option I won’t argue with you

No headcases!
One of the things I’m most excited about with this Wolves team is that our three best pieces (Love, Unicorn, D-Will) all seem like nice, hard-working guys who will do what it takes to help the team win. We seem to have intentionally avoided adding some talented headcases (see DeMarcus Cousins), and I don’t think we should start now. Let’s only get guys who will buy into our team dynamic: unselfish basketball with good passing and high-effort defense.
And Smiles
JR Smith does not have a nice smile.
how's his handshake?
does he have the body of Adonis?
I would love having Wilson Chandler on this team.
Plays good d, has nice size. Plus he went to DePaul so I may be able to get some of my college friends to watch T-Wolves games with me.

Compare Chandler, Smith, Redick, Ellington, Ridnour
Redick has the highest TS% and is the only player above the league average in WS/48. JR Smith has the highest PER of the group. Chandler is the best rebounder. Interesting tid bit, Ridnour’s TS% is comparable to JJ Redick when you only look at this year and last.
This is nice.
I like this idea. A good FA option. Along with Eric Gordon, Rudy Fernandez, Danny Green? Roy Hibbert, Omer Asik
