Let's hope Love's brother is speaking independently...though I doubt that he is.

I doubt he has made any decision right now

In 3 years he will know if this team is going where he wants or if he wants to get out. I’m not too worried about his temporary disappointment that he didn’t get the 5 year max deal

Yeah I agree with this.

I think the brother is just expressing his disappointment. No one knows how good or bad things will be in a year, two years, or three.

K-Love doesn't look all that excited right now though

Wolves Prez Chris Wright posted this picture of Love “celebrating” with staff today:

Yeah they screwed it up, but like draft picks nothing we can do about it.

The organization had a chance to keep an all-star PF on roster for 5 more years. Of course he could get hurt. That’s a risk all teams face. It’s the reason they have insurance, medical retirement cap provisions and injured player exemptions. It’s also part of the reason contract lengths were shortened one year under the new CBA. Instead of 6 years the max possible was reduced to 5.

For whatever reason the team balked. Worse his agent isn’t an idiot and pushed for the mini-max Lebron style. Love is only eligible for a 25% max at this time. After 3 years he’ll be eligible for a 7 year vet 30% max. Unless he’s hurt it makes some sense for him to opt out become an UFA and pursue a 4 year 30% max (5 year if he resigns with whoever holds his Bird rights at the time). He was by all accounts looking to make a 5 year commitment in order to get paid. The Wolves responded by telling him they are scared of long term commitment and gave him an exit strategy.

I’ll keep routing for the team, but this isn’t a Brandon Roy or Odom situation. I fully expect to chalk this up there with drafting Flynn or getting the 3rd pick in the Shaq lotto down the line. I hope I’m wrong, but it’s hard to be happy when the team appears to bonehead the obvious moves.

Kevin Love’s brother can suck it. We don’t even know which team’s will have the cap space in three years to afford a max player and whether their roster is more attractive than our roster will be in three years? Do you really think KLove is going to split to LA to play with Andrew Bynum or Dwight Howard and zero quality guards after Kobe retires? Yes the Lake Show could find another frnachise caliber guard, but how expensive will that player be? There are way too many variable at this poitn to state with any sort of certainty what is going to happen in 3 years.

Michael Beasley is a Small Forward. Derrick Williams is a Power Forward.

My brother

doesn’t know much about my job or what my intentions are in that job.

Not to say good Collin here

can’t know anything. That would be a hasty generalization . . .

He, his family, and Kevin are all probably pissed about the ordeal, and understandably so. But this is one day after he signed it.

Who knows how Kevin will feel in 3 years or what situation the Wolves will be in. I’m still in the camp that says the deal was absolutely stupid, and that Love is going to bolt, but who knows.

A lot can happen in 3 years

As of right now I will agree and say this was bad judgment on the Wolves front office. Crazy shit happens though…..
