So the Spurs didn't pick up the option on James Anderson. Very unimpressive numbers, but he was a popular candidate for the Babbit/Webster pick in 2010. Anyone still interested, or is he just another below-average wing?

A wing? Can he be productive?
If so, I’m interested. I’d also be interested in the link to the article you seem to be posting.

No link, just read a quote from Pop about it on Hoopshype
Sorry if that violated fanshot protocol, a fan post felt like overkill

James Anderson – Basketball Reference
Is not doing much despite playing 10mpg (not a lot, but it is something). I would make the case that he is not that great and is not really worth a look. I mean, he is two years younger than Wes and is probably a worse player.
There are instances when wings have turned it around
Kevin Martin and Thabo Sefolosha were awful when they were younger, and they’re both pretty solid now. Martin learned how to shoot, and Thabo learned how to play D. That being said, most players who produce like Anderson is doing right now do not pan out.
I'd be alright passing
I wasn’t super high on him coming out though, so I might be biased. But also, the Spurs are a smart team and they don’t even see potential to stick it out with him. He hasn’t done anything in the D-League or minor NBA minutes. Let’s just avoid “potential” with our roster spots and start spending money on producers.
Seemed that most people who "liked" Anderson on draft day
… voiced their affection towards him as an indirect way of blasting the Webster trade. But so far, he hasn’t proven anything. Because if his stroke and lack of athleticism, I believe his ceiling is a very poor man’s Michael Redd. Yawn.
That said, he is young and we have, shall we say, “depth problems” at SG. I wouldn’t object to bringing him in as 3rd-string SG, but he’s not that good. Who knows, maybe he can develop into a Redd or Kevin Martin type. Seems like a long shot to me.
