wow.. I've become a bigger pessimist than you?
What is the world coming to?
I feel like i've come across as a bit of a buzzkill lately
I think I’m going to keep my miserable bastard nature in a room full of muffled, late night sobs where it belongs.
T'Wolves 2012: Where A Is For Intangibles
Wolves fandom breeds cynicism
so it’s understable. But this game is gonna be close.
I really think that a few made shots and we're going to be ahead going into the fourth
In all seriousness

is there any player in the NBA less likeable than Bynum?
he’s the worst.

I still hate Kobe way, way more.
Bynum being a Laker does feed my loathing of him, however.
has griffin tried to injure players on the other team?

Well, Bynum's the worst. He floored Gerald Wallace, BEasley, J.J. Barea.
Good point. I dislike him most.

You guys realy do need to make a trade… you can’t play 11 guys every game and make players happy and want to stay. Thats not even including barea, darko, and tolliver which haven’t even played… you really need to find a way to package some players together and fix the roster a bit.
They have 15 guys
and it’s several guys too many.
pretty much... theres a difference between having a good bench and having just to many guys that need time to play
It's the positions that bother me.
I have some trust in RA’s ability to find a good rotation.
yeah, but no matter what you will have good players sittin gon the bench

and we have 4 TOs on the game
but shot 38.5% for the game…
worst loss of the season
this one hurts like a mother. i hate the lakers so so much. i hate how the refs bail them out. i hate derek fisher for what he did to the jazz. kobe, bynum. what a joke team. bullshit.
man i wish the wolves would have shot the ball better. arrgh why didn’t they run more plays for love in the last 3 minutes?!
http://www.davechisholmmusic.com
Agreed, bad loss
But Fisher did the Jazz a favor
bailing on a contract so he could be closer to NYC to help his daughter
and then playing in LA.

Like I said
A favor. 7 million a year for a backup. Bye-bye
good night all, bad game, Lakers horrible team, but we played even worst most of the game
just five minutes of craziness and absence of solid defense. Just happends.
Bynum may be a mandroid
but did give KLove some respect.
With all the players back from injury
Rubio and Love still play 41 minutes…
Rubios - "Clinically PROVEN to Help Reduce Suckiness"
Most of the guys back play the wing.
With the exception of the few minutes Brad Miller saw.
He makes such a difference on the second team
and blending in with the first. He’s so aggressive attacking the basket off the dribble.
Adelman keeps saying
that it’s hard to integrate injured players into the line up when there’s no time to practice.
But once we sort all that shit out, we’re going to kick some Western Conference ass!
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
with 4 turnovers
and 17 more oreb and equal at the line. this was just unbelievably shitty. worst shooting night i can remember.
In an alternate universe, tonight was the Rubio 20+ assist game
He got so many guys so many open looks that turned into clanked threes or fouls at the rim.
This was just a terrible loss
Just awful. LA is 1-7 on the road, lost last night in Milwaukee, they have no bench, their coach is terrible….ugh. What a shitty loss.
There are positives from this game, though
If you're watching a blowout, you can pass the time by counting the double teapots.

Not buying it tonight
This was the team’s first crack at .500 since 06/07. No moral victories. Screw that.
eh, whatever
other than some ill-timed dumb long 2’s from Randolph in the fourth and Luke throughout the game, wolves’s execution was pretty good. Our D was decent; we just have no one who can guard Gasol or Bynum. Kobe was on like a Kobe — ain’t much we do about that other than lay him out flat (woulda been a good assignment for Wes — go knock out Kobe). Losing sucks but we didn’t lose because we didn’t care or played shitty or didn’t execute. We lost cuz we missed wide open shots, they made contested shots, and their big three were basically unguardable tonight.

I look forward to seeing the hoopdata boxscore and popcorn. check our ratio of shots from 3, from 3 ft, and no man’s land. see if it matches my take.
I think you're pretty right on.
There were two terrible, terrible rotations that left Kobe open for three that made a huge difference in the game. Trendwise, you saw what I did.
that's stilll pretty horrible

Ho hum, fupsity boo.
Missing shots = not executing. This was their statement game. They played like the Twinkies. Cute. Screw that.

their comeback and fight at the end
was very non-twinkie, unless twinkie means something I’m not familiar with. And yes, we shoulda made those shots. We shoulda shot better than under 40%, but we didn’t shoot that poorly because of shot selection or lack of effort. They gutted it out in the 3rd and 4th, but they lost. Much better effort than we woulda seen in any game in the last three years. We all woulda preferred a win, but if you can’t see the positives in this game, well, then go be pissed off and eat your twinkies (by the way, try freezing them — delicious).
We’ll get to .500 and we’ll get over it. And we’ll finish 9th in the west.
Whatever
Everybody will be entertained because of the late run but they lost by coming out slow and then getting outplayed by the Laker bench in the 2nd when they ran out guys who nobody knows about.
I know they’ll get to .500 and yada, yada. This game meant more than the others and they screwed it. Am I pissed about it? No. I don’t get pissed about entertainment. I’m puzzled by it.
Hey Stop-n-Pop
You are referring to the Wolves as “they” tonight.
Most posters talk about them as “we”.
Hard loss, hey?
Why does this game mean more than the others?
Why not a road win over the defending champion on a night they got their rings? Or two beatdowns of the Spurs, who are better than the Lakers?
Just because of some mythical “aura” about L.A.? I mean I get that this is a disappointing loss, but it seems kind of arbitrary to declare THIS GAME as the one that mattered the most.
This is a good team
They’ll probably get another chance to crack .500. Of course, this is the Western Conference, where you need to get to .600 just to make the 8th seed

technically, I'd say the Clips ESPN game was their statement game
I doubt nationally this will get much attention. People would’ve chalked it up to the Lakers struggling, patted Love and Rubio on the back, and moved on.
Beyond that, I don’t think we can really make a more meaningful statement that we did against the Clips (even with a .500 record, which I think is inevitable) until there’s a significant roster tweak. There’s just such a serious glass ceiling right now over this club, and over Rubio in particular, given the wings (and, aside from Pek’s recent carnage and the SuperDarko sighting, the centers). Rubio will go from All-Star to All-World when people start canning more than 50% of the shots he creates. Already, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, he’s basically turned Pek into the new Gortat…
2nd crack
We were 7-8 going into the Utah game
Hard to swallow
Gasol was 11-15 FG, 6-6 FTM. Kobe was 14-29 and 5-9 from three. Wolves bench couldn’t hit an outside shot for 3 quarters. Rubio went 2-13. Just didn’t work tonight. The run was exciting, but just not enough.
Rubio shouldn't have dinner with guys on his Spanish Team the night before.
Every game he’s played against teams with Spanish players, he always does poorly. Needs to start being aggressive against these guys. He’s in the NBA now!
Yup
Shitty shooting. Also no Darko.
I hope this shows Darko haters why we need him.

Needed his defense and blocked shots really badly tonight.
Could’ve made the difference.

rebounds is the one thing that you can always be consistent on
Very worried for the Pek (13-9, 19min) disappearance
Good Q for the postgame talk with Adelman

Blech...
I really, really wanted that one. But it happens. Big picture, etc etc. The true takeaway is that Pek is really on to something and Webster is not the droid we’re looking for (in case anyone was curious about that…). Nice enough sub, but he’s not a starting wing.
I think webster looked strong,
But his shot didn’t fall. Got burned on screens a few times by kobe, but can really drive to the hoop. Gotta give him some time to get back into game flow. I just wish his learning didn’t have to come at the expense of a w against the Fakers.
I have high hopes for a lineup of rubio-webster-beas-love-pek/randolph
semantics, I guess, but we made our move with AR. The key was us not putting Pek back in when things got tight…
Anthony Randolph, 16min guarding Bynum 0PF
Zero. I can’t compute.
We need JJ back...
He adds a mental toughness and stability. Can’t wait til he returns…I think we will have a nice little run of wins.
Can't wait til the rematch in Feb
I’m definitely going to go and boo on the Lakers. Get ready for more “Scenes From Staples!”
If only I were there tonight messing with their heads
I swear I have caused more than 2 missed free throws this year. It’s all about hooting during the crowd hush, and off-beat. Btw-wolves pa: SILENCE!
Way too many long 2's tonight
There were times we were in the bonus, but just shot jumpers.take it to the f’ in hole!!
That seemed to be the big problem near the end.
Not driving toward the basket and drawing fouls like the usually do. That and not getting the ball to Love (our banana sandwich) enough near the end.
yeah,
Except for the come back run, it seems like we were sporting shots mostly from 15 and out,, we got fouls, but the only reason it was not totally embarrassing is that we had so many put backs… Which of course is a good skill to have. But they seemed resigned to the fact that the fakers were ahead for most of the game, like some sort of team-memory jungian factor is in effect.
But hey – Rome wasn’t destroyed in a day,

Have no idea
why everyone is suddenly on Anthony Randolphs bandwagon. He is so inconsistent, and he needs to go.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Good: KLove-Like a Rock, Beas-Double Double, Playing with Heart and Never Giving Up
Bad: Guard Shooting Percent, No Pek in 2nd Half
Ugly: .238 from 3 Point Area, Decisions made in Last 3 Minutes of Game
Ricky's shooting
is becoming dangerously close to canceling out all the other good he does. A starting guard who shoots under 32% (as he has in the last 5 games, 34.8% last 10) is unacceptable.
I think we can all agree that shooting under 40% is unacceptable for a starting guard.
So far, Ricky’s done more than enough to overcome that, but it’s worrisome to say the least.
But see, it isn't.
If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm
by CoffeeJanitor on Jan 29, 2012 8:59 PM CST up reply actions
There are very specific shots he misses
Kind of out of control running around shots.
If he sticks to what we does well, he’s not so bad.
Needs a few years honing his shot and learning a quicker release though.
It's the season.
If this was a regular season and he could get some practice, then he could probably fine tune. Right now, everybody’s just tired and inconsistent.
He's got no lift on his jump shot
He almost shoots flat footed. He needs a shooting coach in a bad way.

not running plays for K-Love down the stretch, not using Pek the last few mins ...
Ended this. (Even Bynum said “Thank god they took Pek out” after the game.)

Just got home from the game.
Loved it even though we couldn’t quite pull it off. Turned a Heat fan into a Wolves fan so my job is done :) There’s places for improvement on this team but I’m happy with who we have. The guys will improve with time. Wes may be a lost cause but the rest can get better. We’re giving the NBA’s elite tough games and that’s all we can ask for at this point. Really believe in this team and I’m excited to see this team progress.

Exciting game
Wes Johnson still sucks. Rubio played his worst game. Beasley had his best game of the season. Horrible 1st half, the misses were brutal. Gasol was on at the beginning, then it was Kobe, then Bynum late. Bynum got pissed for the travel calls and refs also let the players play. Very physical game. Way too many Lakers fans.

Damn. Just checking in now,
having gotten back from my once-in-a-(my)-lifetime lower bowl seats. I was feeling really ripped off a little into the third, but the Wolves gave us a real treat with that huge 4th quarter run. Then – for a handful of seconds in the last minute, had us believing that some sort of transcendent Reggie Miller ending was about to transpire. Alas…did not. Haven’t checked the game stats yet, but it seemed like Pau didn’t miss all night. And we didn’t hit from 3 pt all night until the final 10 minutes or so. Wolves offensive looking a little raggedy, and open jumpers just missing left and right.

If Love had been ready for Ricky's pass in those last few seconds
we might all be singing in the streets. The fight at the end was admirable (but half of the crowd had left by then to beat traffic . . .)

Yep
I see now that our shooting display went beyond an anecdotal observance of putrid and was statistically near-historic. We can all talk about how we missed Darko’s length & mobility on defense and a competent 2/3, but if we just weren’t so dang OFF, things could’ve been different in this one.

That's just it.
If the shooting had been even decent the Wolves would have been coasting.

It's been a long time since a Wolves loss bummed me out so much.
So many years where I kind of expected them to lose. Not anymore. I wanted them to hit .500 so badly, especially against the Lakers. Gotta beat McHale and Houston tomorrow.
Looking at the box score (except fg%)
Its a miracle the Wolves lost that game.
The problem is trying to work all the new players in. That and I want Rubio playing with someone other than Ridnour.
