Yep, it's as good as a pass to Love anyway, so it should be done

If Love is in position, it’s a hi % shot whether it goes in or not. Same for Pek

I really think Luke has to come out

his defense is actually better in some respects than he gets credit for, but one on one against Martin he doesn’t have a prayer.

I do like the idea of Beasley on the non-rubio squad

cause those lineups look like a whole lot of suck. I don’t think Beasley is helped a lot by Rubio, at least not as much as another wing, so I see him ideally as a 6th man on this squad. He’d still get his minutes

by dropstep on Jan 30, 2012 10:02 PM CST up reply actions

Late to the party, but

after tonite’s performance, Wes should never see more than emergency minutes again. $ points, 3 boards, and 6 turnovers. And that turnover number is probably being very, very charitable. Just looked afraid to shoot all night and chose to turn the damn ball over instead.

So why only 17 minutes? Had 3 fouls and more to give.

OTOH, lower minutes for Love and RR tonite, 35 & 37, which is a good start to a trend, I hope. Nik could take another 2 or 3 of Love’s minutes. JJB will take a few of RR’s minutes when he returns, so they can both play til the end of the season. In theory.

Time to say goodbye from Spain. 4:32am here and I need some sleep. Great win!

We need 1 win to get .500 and start getting some credit for the play-offs when we win over Western play-off teams (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio).

- Wes should be the third option at the SG position and in any case be a starter.
- I’ll wait with Beasly off the bench for a couple of games, and then upgrade him to the starting line-up.
- Love, Ricky solid.
- Pek getting his minutes and improving game by game.
- Luke has to take the shots but not try to run the point and quickly shoot.

I can't believe my internet dropped out for the one feelgood win

But when it’s heartbreaking losses… c’est la vie. What a third quarter. How about Michael Beasley? Wow, Killer Beas. More Rubio magic, Love doing his thing… it’s a good win. Especially because who wants to lose all four to Houston?

Kevin Martin had his way with him tonight. Depends who he’s up against.

KMart has his way most every nite no matter who is on him

hence his efficiency numbers…

Like I said depends who he’s up against. He’s not a lock down defender imo.

by MychalShannon1 on Jan 30, 2012 9:43 PM CST up reply actions

He got pantsed last night by Bryant.

To be sure, a tough guard, but it was ugly.

Almost like having Barea in there

I’ve had high hopes for Martell ever since we got him. Nice to finally see him on the court with a team that can win.

Nice Victory...

BTW, I really like Courtney Lee. Hopefully the Rockets saw somebody on our roster they might like…Beasley?

I don't think I'd make either trade

Hopefully DWill would get more than that…

Shooting 58% and breaking franchise scoring records

not what I expected on the road on the tail end of a back to back. What a pleasant surprise.

Awesome game all around.

I like this version of Beasley. He can stay. Boy, was that third quarter fun to watch.

I think we should give Dwill a break.

There hasn’t been a lot of practices at all, and the twolves have a very deep and complicated roster. It has only been a third of a shortened season, and we should at least give him by the end of this year to make a judgement.

by andrew33 on Jan 30, 2012 9:56 PM CST reply actions

too late

other teams making judgments as we speak. cut bait as early as you can.

making judgements?

that, in itself, isn’t a good thing.

Many of those judgments are based off poor information.

by Child soldier Frank Jaeger on Jan 30, 2012 9:59 PM CST up reply actions

But those judgements will determine

the perceived trade value of one Derrick Williams.

You dont cut bait

until you give a guy a chance. Terrible move as a GM to trade the number 2 overall pick 20 games into the season.

by andrew33 on Jan 30, 2012 10:11 PM CST up reply actions

Right

And the great GM move is to continue to watch him play 10-15 minutes.

Cut bait?

As in, you’re already convinced he’s going to bust?

by LoveTo on Jan 30, 2012 10:58 PM CST up reply actions

Not a bust

Just that he’s never going to be able to be the player he can be behind Love. He can’t play center, he can’t play the 3. They won’t be able to get him 30-35 mpg next to Love. That’s an insane use of a #2 pick and I think even the team knows it. This has nothing to do with what he could be, player-wise. They don’t have a spot for him that gets him minutes and every game that goes by his value lowers.

Agreed.

It’s just best for everyone involved to move him. (That is if we can get something of need in quality for him.)

that this could have been known prior to draft day.

You are Implying that we have to trade him

The 2nd pick of the draft, 21 games into a strike-shortened season, on a team with a new coach and a not even close to fully evolved roster.

But those judgements will determine the perceived trade value of one Derrick Williams.

Chazz Reinhold: Mom?? MOM!! What is she doing back there? I never know what she's doing.

Im saying

I think D will is going to be a great weapon for us later in the season. who do you even want to trade him for then?

by andrew33 on Jan 30, 2012 10:12 PM CST up reply actions

At what position?

Is Love going to be sitting the bench with his new contract?

by zebano on Jan 31, 2012 8:36 AM CST up reply actions

And Wayne Ellington is going to be as good as James Harden :)

I love the optimism (I could use a bit more of it myself), but I don’t see Williams ever thriving here.
