Just Kidding! On to the recap...

Main Storylines

The Viewing Experience- First of all, it was very disappointing that the game wasn't available on League Pass. The fact that the NBA doesn't allow paying League Pass customers to watch games on NBAtv is ridiculous. Secondly, the Toronto announcers were terrible. Bob Mcflallergy compared the color announcer to Ray Romano and after you hear that, it's hard to ignore. The announcers provided very little insight and spoke mainly in generalities. Sadly for us, tomorrow's game against Brooklyn will also be on NBAtv. Hopefully, we won't be forced to listen to the Brooklyn announcers.

Competent Wing Play- This will probably be high on everyone's list until we all start to get used to it. It is so refreshing to watch players who you actually feel like are professional basketball players play the wing, even if they weren't stellar tonight. The improvement from Wes, Beasley, and Martell to Kirilenko, Roy, and Budinger has been so much fun to watch. Roy definetly looks like he's lost a step, and he struggled tonight, but I still have hope he can find a way to adapt his game to his current situation. The added scoring and court vision are amazing, but what has been the most fun is the things that don't show up in the box score. I can't count how many times in these first two games I've said, "Oh yeah, that's how you play basketball." Whether it's help defense or floor spacing, it's nice to see the new wings, well, aren't Wes, Foye, Brewer or Beasley.

Frontcourt Defense- The Timberwolves did an excellent job of containing the Raptor's front court. Kirilenko is a monster on the defensive end and he definetly showed it tonight. Stiemsma has also opened the season really well and is a great role player. Pekovic also looked pretty solid on defense. He seems to be learning a lot and has been helping a lot more than he did last year. I also like the defense Williams showed tonight. He's not a very savvy defender, but he played with a lot of energy, even if he isn't blossoming into the beautiful rose we hoped he would.

The Cavalry is Coming- This team was built around Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love and they cannot get back soon enough. Pekovic does not seem comfortable without Love. Pekovic is effective largely because of the attention Love requires and he appears to be getting frustrated with the attention he's receiving from opposing defenses. The same can be said for the Ridnour/Roy situation. Roy is a solid option next to Rubio if he can knock off the rust. He can knock down option shots and keep the ball moving. Ridnour is not a good option next to Roy. Neither of them can create on the offensive end or play defense.

Quick Points

- 24 turnovers! 24! Really! 24!

-The Injury to JJ Barea is going to be painful. I hope he's alright.

-Pekovic needs to get more than 3 rebounds.

-The back court defense was terrible tonight.

-Brandon Roy was terrible! Yuck!

-Subway needs to get that creepy monkey off their commercials.

-Toronto's 10-21 from three made things difficult.

Individual Grades

Ridnour- Pretty tough night for Luke. Luke struggled on both the offensive and defensive ends and failed to help the Wolves generate much offense. He had 5 assists to 4 turnovers. C-

Roy- Awful! Just Awful! Turnovers, missed shots, sadness! F

Pekovic- Pretty forgettable night from Pek. He failed to grab rebounds and seems to be frustrated. C-

Kirilenko- Kirilenko was everything we hoped he would be tonight. He was excellent on defense and insanely efficient on offense. 17 points on 7 shots, 6 boards, and 3 blocked shots. A

Williams- Tough to grade Williams on this one. He seemed to have a lot of energy, but at times is a black hole. He led the team with 8 rebounds and looked like he was playing hard. B-

Budinger- Budinger had some shots fall tonight, but wasn't very active on the defensive end. He turned the ball over four times and was generally unproductive. C-

Stiemsma- Stiemsma might be my favorite new Wolf. He had one careless throw away, but had 4 blocks in 17 minutes. A-

Shved- Shved still looks lost out their. He definitely improved since the last game, but he has a long way to go. C-

Cunningham- Cunningham was 2-7 from the floor and has been uninspiring so far this season. I want to love him, and am still more confident in him than Williams. C

Barea- It looked like Barea was going to pick up right where he left off Friday night. He then took a shot to the head and had to sit the rest of the game with a concussion. We can probably count him out for tomorrow night too. Get well, JJ, we need you. A

Next Game: Monday at Brooklyn
