There is nothing about basketball here
Don't read this if you're looking for basketball stuff. Is that clear enough?
I thought it might be a good opportunity to throw out a few post election ideas to the political wolves that comment here.
First, Might it not be a good time to get rid of the electoral college? Because campaigns are so carefully orchestrated to be successful without actually veering too far from the center, and because too much importance is concentrated on swing states, these close elections don't surprise me. Had the popular vote outcome not matched the final result I think the mood would have been ugly and possibly dangerous. With this and the other two suggestions I'll make here, I'm really interested in how you think these actions would affect campaign spending and messaging.
The second suggestion I'll make is that reapportionment be turned over to a computer. Certainly a program could be written to fairly design districts if careful guidelines were prescribed.
Thirdly, States that feel they have no say in picking nominees should begin to organize to hold primary elections on the last possible date. If more than 50% of delegates remained undecided until the end it might better balance the contests.
What do you think?
