I'm a new Wolves fan.

Hey guys, so I've decided to randomly become a T-Wolves fan. I had previously been a Sacramento Kings fan but they are unbearable to watch. Six years of losing with no clear direction and owners that want to move the team is just a disastrous situation. What I gather from Minny is that they are up and coming. I really like the trade they made with Memphis to acquire Kevin Love for O.J. Mayo. Adding Kirilenko, Pekovic, Schved, Budinger, Roy, Ridnour, Williams and others in recent years has formed a really nice, young core. I think the Wolves have a very realistic chance of making the playoffs. I see a team that plays with continuity, heart and effort on a nightly basis. You don't understand how refreshing that is to watch after observing the pathetic, abomination of a Kings team that I have witnessed for the last 6 losing seasons.

I'm particularly a fan of small market teams. Teams like New York, Miami, Los Angeles and others will always be able to attract the big name talent simply because they are big markets. Markets like San Antonio, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Cleveland, etc. will never enjoy that luxury. Drafting, signing and trading is therefore how teams in the small markets have to compete with the big markets. San Antonio has done a masterful job of it over the years with Gregg Popovich at the helm and a core of Parker, Ginobili, Duncan and others. I know that Rick Adelman is great coach from his days in Sacramento in the early 2000s. It was playoffs or bust every year. Really, those Kings teams should've won the championship at least once during that time. Point being, Adelman was able to establish that winning culture, that has since vanished, but having filled arenas and community support goes a long way toward building a winning franchise. It also takes a commitment from ownership and the players to keep that core of players intact and not go to the bigger markets. I'm hopeful that people like Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic won't leave Minny for greener pastures, but who knows? The only way to decrease the likelihood of that is to win consistently and make Minnesota the desirable place to play. Anyway, I'm glad to be apart of the Canis Hoopus community and I look forward to living and dying with every win or loss by the Wolves.
