Unofficial post nut shot thread

Just because the game thread is freezing my pc.

Rubio's last two turnovers were terrible, which is too bad because it will shift all of the blame to him. Rubio was taking Jeremy Lin to school all game long, had him totally flustered, and hit the biggest shot of the game for the Wolves, driving into the paint for a lefty layup against Tyson Chandler. After NY executed a perfect post-timeout play for a Novak three (why can't we find a guy that can just hit treys?) the game was tied and pretty much a coin flip as to who would take the W. Prior to that, the Wolves had the worst offensive 4th quarter of the season while Rick Adelman elected not to play Nikola Pekovic (who was 9/10) for the majority of the final quarter. Ricky messed up at the end and is no doubt killing himself right now, but he played really well and is suffering because of the lack of wing shooters and a truly awful (but rare) coaching error.

Remembered my sign in info.

Wow that 4th quarter was UGLY. I’m amazed how bad Rubio played offensively that quarter. Why did Adelman wait so long to put Pek back in? Hell even when he got in we still didn’t feed the post. This team needs a SG so so bad. Sick of Ridnour starting at SG and really sick of Wes Johnson at SF.

How many more games would we have won this year...

…if any other player had played Wes’ minutes?

Just replacing him makes us a playoff team.

Wes' badness..

is becoming difficult for me to wrap my mind around.

He is in the game for 20+ minutes and is completely invisible except when he shows up to turn the ball over two or three times.

Wes is the singularity

Story of the game: 3 guard lineup with 9 minutes to go

Rubio did all he could, sure the two TO’s were bad but he played a great game outside of them and took Lin out of the game

If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm

re the 2 TOs

Sucks but happens to the best of them, right? Westbrook did it the other night at the end when OKC lost to the Kings. And Deron Williams did it against us. Just hate to end it on that note when he had such a good game otherwise. And KLove just owns the Knicks. Sucks to lose when he puts up a 30/20 effort. In such a bad mood tonight. We really needed that one.

Inexcusable loss

I could take the loss to Memphis. I could even take last night’s loss to the Mavs. But this one? No, you can’t let yourself lose this game. You just can’t. Worst loss of the season with the possible exception of the Atlanta game.

The worst thing is that this felt like a Rambis-era loss. A 4th quarter lead blown. A boatload of turnovers. Strange rotations (3 PG’s on the floor at once?).

I’m ready for a roster move. Too many shooters on this squad that can’t make shots.

by One_Eyed_Jack on Feb 12, 2012 12:25 AM CST reply actions

He will hopefully help

but I’m thinking that expecting more than backup-level SG play from him is probably unrealistic. A rookie, coming off a knee injury, getting tossed into the middle of the season.

I really starting to hope for more minutes for Tolliver

I don’t think his shooting is that great overall but his turnovers are down, and he defends way better than Luke.

by zebano on Feb 13, 2012 9:48 AM CST up reply actions

Totally agree

It seems to me that there are very few players on this team who feel they are “part of the picture”…if they’re feeling marginalized they won’t perform….now I know this cuts both ways but as you say, One Eyed Jack, the rotations are strange and the players look like strangers to each other. Roster moves are needed and quickly.

Adelman is playing weird combos

to paper over the elephant in the room. We have absolutely, positive, horrible SGs and SFs. As we have had for years and years.

It is not an accident that Fields and Shumpert look like Kobe and Kobe 2.0. And that despite monster games by Love/Pek we lose.

The absolutely bullheaded decision to “stay the course” and “the playoffs this year is not a big deal” makes me really angry.

We do we have to play with one hand tied behid our back? Is it just so that Kahn can be 100000% sure that Yes, he did f*ck up the draft picks for Wes and perhaps Williams? And the trade for the amazingly non-impactful Webster? And the effective but strangely duplicative JJ who should be playing PG not SG?

Argg. If you can’t beat the mediocre Knicks minus Melo & STAT whilst at home, you need help.

Even more perplexing

is Adelman’s decision (and I know he’s a HOF coach and such) to sit Pek in the fourth quarter of a tight game. His offense is invaluable, and his defense has been adequate. It’s unreal.

I'm going to brag. I drive the Nikola Pekovic fanwagon.

by Cynical Jason on Feb 12, 2012 12:45 AM CST up reply actions

This is the worst part to me

If we’re gonna get cute and play a 3 PG lineups, then they at least need to be making shots. It only seems effective for 2-4 minute stretches, kind of like throwing in the zone D, then the other team adjusts. Ridiculous to not make them show that they can stop Pek in the post before going away from it, especially with the game tight. This has been a pattern the last few games too.

I wanted a .500 team this year

We have 3 great players in Rubio,Love and Pek. I really hope we can add those other 2 key spots before next season

by RaysOfHope on Feb 12, 2012 12:49 AM CST via mobile up reply actions

we also need a defensive C

I love, LOVE Pek as the starter but if Darko cannot be the defensive C this team needs they need to somehow get one

If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm

by CoffeeJanitor on Feb 12, 2012 1:37 AM CST up reply actions

When is Darko coming back?

I want to see a trade for a SG and SF badly

by RaysOfHope on Feb 12, 2012 9:54 AM CST via mobile up reply actions

Stick with the team

To expect playoffs this year isnt right. Heck I would be pumped if they finished .500 this year. They finally have some pieces to build around. They dont have all the pieces yet, but im positive they will find them and make this team the best it can be. Pekovic has been a great find, im really believing he can be the center of the future. Love and Rubio are one hell of a combo.

this is nothing compared to the end of last year

This is my position as well.

As crazy angry as I can get during games, this season is light-years better than last year.

Adelman fucked up again

He needs to stop starting luke and wes. Give webster more minutes for him to get back into rhythm. Cant believe he didnt pull over his PGs and tell them to go down low as much as possible in that game.

Had the knicks on the ropes even in the first quarter. Should have kept on going to love and pek till we had wide open shooters and we were in bonus. Adelman needs to stop being stupid.

by andrew33 on Feb 12, 2012 3:07 AM CST reply actions

The fact is we have bad wings

not sure what switching them around is going to do

If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm

by CoffeeJanitor on Feb 12, 2012 3:39 AM CST up reply actions

There's no way

every one of our wings are just exactly the same bad.

Webster is much taller, much more athletic. He’s shown some flashes here and there but seems to be limited by the fact that he’s not getting a lot of minutes.

Its even hard for superstars to start getting into rhythm if they dont get consistent minutes.
Luke gets abused on defense most of the time, and it causes a lot of problems other than the number of baskets luke gets scored on.

by andrew33 on Feb 12, 2012 4:06 AM CST up reply actions

Webster is limited by BBIQ and talent.

He’s a good catch and shoot guy, and sometimes he plays some defense. But he’s another guy who can;t put the ball on the floor and gets in trouble when he tries to do more than what he’s capable of.

I am sick and tired

of RA playing Wes,is a nonsense,I bet Khan gave the input for this brilliant experiment, there is no way you keep him in the starting 5 if you wanna win. Also, what is the point of playing Webster couple of minutes and then does not see the floor the rest of the game? Let s not forget that he has to find its rhytm back,he s nothing special but is D is better than Wes…Ridnour should not start at the 2 either…I really think Adelman did a bad job with the rotation tonight,we gave the game away,TO sure a big part of it,but with Love and PEk were find buckets and FT…I don t get it…let s hope they make a trade for a good wing!

a guy like this would be nice on our team, the age is a problem though…

by zotal on Feb 12, 2012 8:56 AM CST reply actions

I am just sick and tired

of the way this team is handled. I have watched every minute of the Wolves this season and it’s sometimes good but mostly it’s frustrating.

I like RA, he’s really a good coach and far way better coach than Rambis (anyone could be better at coaching than Rambis) but the things he does to this team is really hurting the chances of this team to win. I’m sick of RA getting praise, some even mention him for Coach of the Year. Yes he did improve our defense but his rotation is really really stupid.

Why does he even start Wes? I can’t believe this guy is still in the league. I know he is an easy target but this guy is so bad. I kept my faith in him early in the season but he just sucks. This guy is untradeable. Just send him to D-league where he might still suck out there. I also hope the Wolves doesn’t pick-up his option for next season or might as well be cut by now. It will surely help the team.

The minutes given to Wes should be given other deserving players like Martell and DWill. I know DWill is not an SF but it won’t hurt to play him over Wes.

I don’t understand RA’s infatuation to Luke and Wes. Luke is good offensively but he turns the ball often and defensive he tries but it doesn’t work mostly on 2guards.

I loved it when there was a time both Beas and Luke was injured. The team was more balanced and they were actually quite good playing in a limited rotation. Wes was playing his best minutes of the season. But things changed when Beas came back. Oh Micheal.

What I just want from this team is a balanced roster and a consistent working rotation. We need to make changes now. I hate how they are taking things slow and not thinking about the playoffs. There is no better time than now. Even just losing in the first round they will gain experience from it.

I will be disappointed if Kahn doesn’t make a move in this trade deadline. But I hope this will be a good move or else.. KAAAAAAAHHHHN!!

Wings are all bad

Switching them around doesn’t help

If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm

by CoffeeJanitor on Feb 12, 2012 12:58 PM CST up reply actions

I think Wes'contract option is already picked up by the Wolves

the D globally is regressing significantly, this is due also to the choices of RA, I think Darko, when limited and trying not to be a TO machine can help because against the Knicks I saw complete lack of D in the paint…

by zotal on Feb 12, 2012 10:13 AM CST reply actions

How bad is Wes?

He’s actually got me missing Damien Wilkins (not to mention Lazar, Corey, Rodney Carney, Brian Cardinal, etc.)! There has got to be a D-Leaguer somewhere that can produce a better effort, right?

As for Luke, give him full credit for trying, but he is what he is – a competent back-up/occasional starting PG. Wonder if he’ll be made available at the deadline?
