Ricky Rubio can't shoot!
He now holds two world records.
The other is in ‘Awesomeness/48’.

Must have been today, at a shoot-around or something.
Evan Turner broke it first with 14, then Rubio topped him.

That'd be hilarious
if Turner made an effort to set this world record, and then Rubio wandered over a broke it without practicing.
It was at the shootaround practice for the Rising Stars game.
If only he could shoot from behind the basket during the game. ;) Or from half court, where he also made 3 shots or something today.
Behind the basket, behind a Pek screen.

The TWolves PR Twitter has a bunch of fun All Star Weekend Wolves stuff.
From yesterday, it appears that Ricky was wearing his new backpack (but somehow D-Will was not wearing his—what’s up with that?):

There's a lot of team on the left.
Just saying.
This makes me like Rubio even more...
That is some major teammate points right there.
I watch this team, and i care so much, simply because i can’t not. It’s just a part of who i am..
I hope...
They put Williams in his place for not wearing his back pack.

Imagine someone told you on draft night 2009
That Rubio would put up crap stats two years in Euro and then move to Minnesota. Would you have imagined at that point that he was the most lovable, awesome, magical creature ever?
You can't...dust...for vomit.
Forget about all the Kahn bad just for a moment
His recruitment of Ricky was a thing of beauty. The way he went after Ricky, the way he continued all positive after Ricky’s initial rejection, the way he stayed true to Ricky, even though it would have been so easy to imply to reporters that he or his advisors were prima donna, the way he never wavered that Ricky would be here…here in Minnesota(!), the way he believed in Ricky when most of us were freaking out.
Last spring it may have turned into a loyalty of desperation, and maybe Ricky represented a lottery ticket at that point, but it was a winning lottery ticket.

I disagree a little bit
Ricky didn’t have any real choice but to come this year. You can say ‘yeah but’ all day but the fact is this was the only move for the Riskter to take a fat, safe 3 year deal. Safe and fat being the key words.

Yeah, but he came here
On great terms with the Wolves from the two-year experience. He was going to have to come here sometime, I recognize. Nothing but good vibrations.

Yeah, but
My toaster would have drafted Rubio #5 and Ricky would have popped up in MN eventually.

Hindsight is a great thing :)
Easy to say that now, I don’t recall people being that sure last year, not even close. And there is a pretty big difference between coming in 2011, and coming eventually. No way Wolves would have this season without Ricky.

It was pretty cut and dry.
We drafted him so we had his rights for 5 years. 2 years with Barca, then he could play a third year for Barca and try to negotiate a non-rookie salary deal with MN (but that would have been a gamble for him because his euro stats were sagging). The safe option was the one he took, lock in his rookie salary scale so he had a long-term deal in the league he dreamed to play in.
Are we supposed to praise Kahn for not selling the bottom and trading Ricky when his production fell? There is NO WAY Glen Taylor would let the cash cow of Rubios arival in MN disappear in a trade for a regular ball dribbler.
Kahn made a great trade for the 5th pick. That’s all.

Kahn could've traded the pick easily, but didn't
for that he gets credit
That was never a realistic option.
Ricky sells too many tickets in his Rookie year for that, and they were in on all the discussions so they felt confident that he was coming.
I’m just not giving Kahn any credit for drafting and then not effing up the Rubio situation. Any GM worth their salt pulls that off. Ricky WANTED to come.

All credit to Kyrie...
for some spectacular shooting in the Rising Stars game. He definitely deserved the MVP trophy. 12 of 13 including 8 of 8 threes is ridiculously good in any setting, much less an All-Star game. Interestingly though, as All-Star games are about “putting on a show”, ie doing what got you there and more, Ricky certainly didn’t disappoint. In addition to a couple of his “we see that all the time” behind the back assists, he threw a 3/4 court, on the money behind the back lead pass, and his dribble through the legs of a startled Cousins while on the move, which lead to a Griffin oop/slam might have been the play of the game. Perhaps even more interesting was seeing him motioning guys into position, and calling for screens. And getting guys to do it! This in an otherwise absolutely “let me put it up” wide open format. Dude is a born point guard.

(The Rubio wicket dribble was NBA.com's #1 play of the game, anyway.)
The last thing we want to do is take long twos. It's still on our list, though.
We should go back in time and rig the draft
Kyrie would be our SG
