Statistical brain teaser: Wolves' roster edition
UPDATE: Nevermind! (explanation below in the comments)
I grabbed this screenshot from a national sports website last night (no names so as to not embarrass the totally guilty). One of the numbers on it did not make any sense to me at all. See if you can spot what I'm talking about:

The highlighted assists column is not a clue. Now I'll admit I'm not very good at interpreting statistics, but this error simply cannot be correct, at least not in a world governed by Newtonian physics (and I'm not talking Gingrich).
I'm sure there will be plenty of the usual snark, but this error is beyond snark and is just not humanly possible. I also predict that most of you will study the entire chart at least twice before spotting it.
No prize for being the first to spot the error other than bragging rights (which, on this site, can be considerable).

Oops
Sorry. Just mentioned that in passing while editing the post and didn’t look at it closely enough. Either way, that highlighted column does not contain the mistake.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
You might have to point out what you think the problem is
because these stats seem to match what’s on B-R.
Are the league rankings for FG, FGA, and FG% giving you heartburn (that FG% is higher than both FG and FGA)?
If you stare at it a long time and then look away and then look back at it
It still looks like a team roster. I just saw “A Beautiful Mind” again on cable and was hoping for something more

FORGET IT: MY DUMB MISTAKE
The error was (I thought) that Yahoo Sports showed Brad Miller as having made 1.5 free throw makes per game on two FTAs. I just went back and reviewed his box scores and yes, this IS accurate because he played briefly against Houston, so his 3-4 FT shooting against the Lakers was averaged against that.
I am terrible at stats, but I knew this was an average number and I was thinking Miller had played in only one game. What’s worse is that I looked at this from every angle and couldn’t figure out how it was right. I should’a looked at the box scores first.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
thanks for the buggy ride

Damn good prediction though
I’m sure there will be plenty of the usual snark
I may change my screen name to Usual Snark. Just sounds like a very likable person

What is the probability that Kevin Love will score 30 or more points tonight?
If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm
I was gonna guess Love leading the team in field goal attempts
then I remembered Rambis wasn’t coach anymore.
Don't feel bad man...
NBA.com boxscore had Malcolm Lee with a foul tonight. Unless KLove is starting to get major preferential treatment, pretty sure that’s not possible.
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
I got it!
JJ Barea has 0.1 off rebounds and 1.7 def rebounds, which should equal 1.8 total rebounds. Instead they have it listed as 1.9.
However, I am not convinced this is actually an error. As crazy as that sounds. There exists something called round-off error. As the stats are being rounded to only one decimal place this has to be accounted for.
For example he could actually have 0.14 off boards (rounds to 0.1) and 1.74 def boards (rounds to 1.7) but when you add them (0.14+0.74) you get 1.88 which they round to 1.9.
Accuracy is a bit of a pain sometimes.
P.S. This is my first post on the site.

awesome. you actually found an error anyway
and no doubt it’s a rounding thing, but that’s still awesome.
