Rookie-Sophomore Game Altered to include mixed squads with a live draft
NBA All-Star 2012 will play host to the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, which will introduce an exciting new format to a game that has historically featured NBA rookies facing off against sophomores. For the first time, rookies and sophomores will be mixed together on teams. ...
TNT Analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal will serve as the general managers of two opposing teams, each with nine man rosters, consisting of NBA rookies and sophomores drafted from a pool that was previously selected by the NBA’s assistant coaches. ...
The pool of players will be announced on Feb. 8, followed by the live BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Draft on Thursday evening, Feb. 16. Fellow TNT Analysts Mike Fratello and Steve Kerr will be part of the coaching staffs for the teams, with Fratello joining TEAM CHUCK and Kerr joining TEAM SHAQ. The Head Coaches for both teams will be the lead assistant coaches from the 2012 NBA All-Star Game coaching staffs.

Awesome idea
So who are the two starters at PG? Wall v Rubio v Kyrie…interesting decision.
No chance Griffin plays in this game, right? Because I think the sheer awesomeness of a Rubioop to Blake would burn out the retinas of all who saw it.

wow
this actually sounds more interesting than the actual All-Star game.
Anyone know what the player pool is?
I don't like this
But I guess it could get funny with Charles and Shaq
If I'm pissing you off its probably sarcasm
Shaq will pick someone stupid as his PF starter.

Hopefully
this will be successful and they’ll use it as an impetus to change up the real all-star game next year.
Also, for the good of humanity I agree that Blake Griffin and Rubio need to play with each other in an all-star game. Preferably before Griffin explodes his knees.
Sounds very sucky to me
If you don’t have a player in the game, who would you root for? At least split the teams along East-West lines for crying out loud.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
Gave it some more thought and now I disagree
with myself. If Kyrie Irving was PG for one squad and Ricky for the other, that would make it a good game.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
Hoping for Barkley's team to beat the hell out of Shaq's team.

I'm hoping for a ricky-blake team
Does Pek play as a soph? He’s playing well enough to be included. He has to be up for most improved player this year.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
If that doesn't work, cheat.

Jerry Zgoda:
Just got word: Rubio and DWilliams will play in the Rising Stars challenge, the former rookie-sophomore format. Big Pek didn’t make it.
