How soon do you think before plays for the Wolves?
Hopefully just 3 games in the D league

Thats a pretty decent first game off of knee surgery
Excited to see him play for us in the regular season.
Anyone else notice that Gabe Pruitt (former Celtic who was supposed to be who Rondo became) is tearin up the D-League on OUR D-league team…..curious….
I watch this team, and i care so much, simply because i can’t not. It’s just a part of who i am..

That's way better than J-Fly

In only 23 minutes too...
Hopefully they’re easing him back into action (and conditioning) after the surgery and rehab.
15 shots in 23 minutes… that’s a bit high, but I guess he did make 7 of them. 0-2 from three – at least he wasn’t settling a ton… Only 2 FTA though.
A lot of shots
but he is playing in the d-league. I’m sure his shots will go down in the NBA.
Was that camera on a blimp?
I didn’t think that arena had seats that bad.
Please, please, please, just be better than Wes, Malcolm. Defend a little and hit some shots. That’s all we need.
I think he has a solid chance
Defensively Wes gets beat by quicker 2’s. Lee has solid length and faster feet. He and Rubio could be a lockdown defensive backcourt. We really need that since Love and Pek aren’t exactly stud weakside defenders (they seem to hold their own in individual matchups). The shooting part I’m more worried about.

Yeah, everyone, going back to college DX writeups, has said that he's NBA ready on defense.
DX was also pretty positive about pre-draft improvements that Lee made in his shooting mechanics. I doubt he’ll be a 3-point specialist, but if he can hit mid-range twos well enough to open drives to the basket, he could be fine. I just want to end this Wes nonsense.
I hope he can be a good 2nd round find

Wes Johnson has been playing the 3 for a while now.
Malcolm Lee is a 2 (or maybe a spot minute 1). Having him back won’t end the “Wes nonsense.”
It might end the Ridnour as the starting 2 nonsense, though.
True that he's been playing 3, but I still think Lee could cost Wes minutes.
Zgoda was saying in his chat that Wes stays on the floor for his defense (which I don’t think is very good, but this is as good a story as any). If Lee can be a defensive specialist on the wing, Wes can be benched in favor of Beasley, Webster, or even Williams.
That's kind of my thinking
Lee might make it possible to start Beasley or Williams at 3
Webster seems fine defensively. I don’t buy the excuse with Wes over him…but I’ve wondered if you have Rubio/Lee/Love all excellent defensive players at their positions could you get away with Pek who is fair but not great and Williams who might currently be a liability at 3….

Remembering Jonny Flynn
Didn’t he have something like six TOs his first game with the SkyForce? Having had Lee’s surgery, I wouldn’t be surprised if most ugliness he displayed in this game was due to the effects of no game action and a little lack of confidence in the knee. All the things he could do in practice…well, there’s always an extra effort exerted in that first game. Assuming all is good with his knee, I suspect he’ll look a lot more efficient his next few.

Please don't compare JFly with Mr. Lee
I’m still hoping Lee has some actual NBA skills.
Oh, trust me
I’m not comparing them. Just remembering six turnovers…

Its good to know he was with the right team
When he had no idea where he was, I thought he might be on a bus going to play indoor soccer or something
I was at the game...
Malcolm played alright. He found some open guys, and he hit some long jumpers. He seemed to be able to drive at will, but he often picked up his dribble short of the lay-up. He still probably had 3 lay-ups and the rest were long jumpers.
He looked slow, actually, and he was noticeably gassed by the end of the game. I am guessing he was just out of shape, but the opposing PG was beating him off the dribble.
He was not used to playing with his teammates, obviously, and that showed. He looked like he was a little lost at times, which is totally understandable.
I was actually really surprised by his size. He looked like he was a legit 6’4’’-6’5’’.. He was fairly strong, and he wasn’t pushed around by anyone.
Most impressed by: His size, his ability to drive and create for others, and his jump shot.
Least impressed by: quickness not what I expected. He was gassed after about 7 minutes. His decision making was not great, hopefully only because he was rusty.

Thanks for this
Your post is a great example of what is so cool about this new communications age. Such a concise and insightful picture of an obscure but important event was simply nonexistent a few years ago. (And like Pek, I ain’t got Twitters either.)

Haha
I’m from Minnesota, I just go to college down here. Hopefully I’ll be able to come back home when I’m done.
It was a pretty boring game actually, as the SkyForce are about as bad as they’ve ever been (or so I’ve been told).
Nobody was there though, and I sat in row #2. It’s never a bad night when you see a basketball game with that good of seats.
Thanks guys. I just called it how I saw it. I’m sure he’ll probably change when he gets in shape. I might go Friday or Saturday again. Maybe both. We’ll see.
If nothing else
this seems to me like a first step in Lee’s ascension to the pro’s=beat people you are better than. 1st game off injury he goes for 16/6 in 24 minutes…he’s better than the D league….now let’s make the next baby steps and be better than Wayne/Wes and so forth and so forth
