I smell..

A trade coming..As many of you have noticed, AR has not played many minutes lately. And also with the emergence of Pek, do you see the wolves making any moves? Im still hearing rumors of Memphis shopping OJ. And in my mind, with the talent we have, hes 100 percent get-able.
At what cost would you give up to bring OJ to Minny??

Randolph+wayne+utah pick?

Randolph+Martell+wayne?

Now, you may say he is a bad teammate and what not, but really what do we know? The media seems to kinda make things seem much worst than what it really is. Ive heard about his airplane fiasco and what not. I really think his skillset will help us get to the next level. I hate seeing ricky set up a beautiful 3 point shot for one of our 2 guards, and watching them miss. It kills me, I almost cry..

Not after the way Ridnour

played against Memphis. After last night I don’t know why they’d want Luke.

Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!

This year, statistically, they're pretty close..

…with Luke getting the slight edge. Of course, then, there are the physical differences.

I would love to nab OJ but other options are out there

B. Rush, Elliot Williams, Rudy Fernandez, JJ Reddick, Anthony Morrow and Courtney Lee have all been talked about here but would take various things to get. **

I would be perfectly happy to move any or all of Ridnour, MakinItWayne, Darko, Mem pick, Utah pick, Miller, Webster, Johnson, Randolph or Williams to acquire a starting wing. Of course I don’t want to deal Williams for Courtney Lee or Mayo but if you want to make great deals you often have to give up quality players.

For Mayo in particular I would offer Ridnour or Ellington + their pick back. I’m not actually sure Mayo is a better SG than Ridnour but he looks much better on the defensive end and their shooting stats are similar.

If we’re going to move a good part I would almost rather target a Batum/Dudley SF and just live with Ridnour whose a valuable contributor and let Ellington or Webster play a few more minutes at SG.

I also can't take anymore of

Him dribbling circles around the court until he gets an inch of separation so he can jack up a shot. Luke is a pretty damn good shooter, but I wish he would just do more catch and shoot. I don’t trust him with the ball in his hands.

by Bartzy on Feb 8, 2012 1:18 PM CST up reply actions

the problem is that while Mayo passes my eye test for good D is Drtg is nearly as bad as Lukes 102 to 104

both are bad for their respective teams. Other than that Mayo is the better 3 point shooter, Luke has the better eFG% and more assists.

by zebano on Feb 8, 2012 1:56 PM CST up reply actions

It's not his fault

0He gets posted up by bigger SGs all the time. Plus his help defense isn’t all that bad. For the position he’s been put in, I think he’s doing better than i expected. Not great (or good even), but it could be worse.

But JR Smith

won’t cost them any players or picks and is a better SG than Mayo.

Is JR a SG?

I thought he was a SF!!!
Also, both JR and Mayo have very similar career stats… I would go with the cheapest contract!

by Thiarc on Feb 8, 2012 1:47 PM CST up reply actions

I believe JR is a FA and Mayo is a RFA after this year

the problem is that his qualifying offer will be $7.3million… which if I squint I can justify but it’s on the absolute top end of what I would pay him based on his career production.

If we want someone to STRICTLY be a scorer

and to be someone that can make a 2pt lead become an 11 pt lead in a few possessions, I take JR Smith.

by y2jayjk on Feb 8, 2012 2:58 PM CST up reply actions

JR Smith is a SG, not a small forward

He is about 6 foor 5 and has an ideal game to go along with Rubio – there is knucklehead chucker risk with Smith, but if Adelman got his head straight the Wolves are suddenly a threat and would likely be a playoff team that no one would want to play.

Ridnour + Ellington

SHOULD be enough IMO, but if not, throw in their pick, ONLY if we intend to extend him. I don’t want to trade for a rental. If we make a trade, make it a long term solution, if not, role with what we’ve got.

It'd be awesome to end up with the guy we traded

to get our best player on draft night. Does Mayo hate Minnesota or hate Memphis at all for that?

I would love to see a trade but ..

We have Adelman saying he wanted to keep rotations shortened for continuity without Kevin Love. A case could also be made that he was resting players for the important MEM game, where play-off tie-breakers could come into play. For example, Martell sat, and may be needed to guard MEM’s athletic swingmen.

Finally, we have Kahn on 2/2 saying that now that we’re healthy, he may prefer to not make any trades, and let Adelman see what he’s got to work with.

I’ve got a couple dozen trade ideas in my head, but I suspect we won’t see one occur for several weeks, or maybe not until the end of the season.

Tell OJ Mayo...

That the Twolves are interested in acquiring him and we will be fighting for a playoff spot… perhaps he will miss some open shots to help his future team!!!

Wait

till Malcolm plays a few weeks. See what you’ve got in the young rook. He might be as good as the options discussed above. That being said, if he is, you still have to consider going after Gordon this summer.

no to gordon

Injury prone and wants a max, no. Max goes to rubio.
