Thoughts on J.R. Smith
I've never been a huge fan of Smith, and I also don't want him taking the ball out of Rubio's hands, but if the price is 2.5, it seems like a pretty good deal.

I don't think he'll come here...
It sounds like Chicago, New York and LAC are interested. It would surprise me if he’d choose MN over those options. That said, if he would come here, I would do it in a heart beat.

For the balance of this year...
Yes. And I think it would make sense for JR. No one can give him a big or long contract right now, but if he can showcase himself he’ll become a coveted near max free agent – one the Wolves could afford to pursue if he works out.
So the 2.5 million isn't prorated?
That’s a lot more expensive, but probably still worth it.
NM i get it.
2.5 is already prorated. I should probably read the article i posted.
I'm down
he offers a lot of what Mayo does and good defense. I’m not really sure about how crazy he is but I couldn’t fault the Wolves for going after him.
Man, hands off
He’s exactly what we don’t need, more hot and cold offense.
T'Wolves 2012: Where Pek Decimates Jason Thompson
Anthony Randolph.
Or trade him, Wes Johnson, Luke Ridnour, and Utah’s 1st rounder for whatever we can get, hopefully Jimmer.
Rubio
Smith
Williams
Love
Pek
Our Bench:
Barea
Jimmer
Beasley
Tolliver
Brad Miller
I’m not saying Sac-town would do it, but they just might. I think there is a team out there that would give up 1 above average SG/SF for an avg/below avg SG/SF, an above average PG, and a potentially good PF, along with a 1st round pick (as of now)
Solution?
I don’t do too many Rube Trade Suggestions, but here is one involving The Rockets, Lakers and Wolves. Lakers are evidently very open to moving Pau and Houston wants him. Lakers are also getting desperate for a merely-competant PG. Obviously, The Wolves are still combing for a SG and Kevin Martin’s minutes have oddly been cut recently (3 of last 5 games under 20 minutes of burn)

To LAL – Ridnour, Beasley, Scola.
To Houston – Pau, Anthony Randolph.
To Wolves – Kevin Martin, Darius Morris.
That leaves us 14 roster spots, enough space to give our prorated $2.5M to JR Smith as our 6th-man extrordenaire:
PG – Rubio, JJ Berea, D.Morris
SG – K. Martin, JR Smith, Ellington, M.Lee
SF – Martell, W.Johnson
PF – Love, D.Williams, Tolliver
C – Pekovic, Darko, B.Miller
Quote from Casey Jacobsen (former teammate of Smith)
“Most selfish teammate: JR Smith
I played with JR his rookie year in New Orleans in 2005. We were a bad team, full of me-first guys, but he took the crown. I’d never seen a guy so intent on shooting the ball every time it hit his hands and I’m sure I never will again. Watching him during his latest Denver years, I can see that not much has changed."
I’m not sure this is the type of guy I want, another offense killer.
JonnyRotten Flynn, that is
