Dammit

"Time is the only currency," a co-worker of mine likes to say. I could not agree more. As a father of two young kids, pretty serious recreational runner, and aspiring indie musician (all outside the confines of my 9-to-5), my time is precious to me. Usually, once the kids are in bed - if I'm not hanging out with my wife or making futile music marketing forays on the internet - I am looking for fun, stress-free escapism.

My beloved Wolves have brought me very little escapism that is stress-free, and even less that is fun over the course of nineteen years.

But as we all know, this year was different. At the beginning of this year, I was no less busy. Yet somehow, it made sense for me to check in on each game right around halftime (remember, gotta get the kids in bed first), and enjoy inspired, gutty play from the newest, funnest attraction in the NBA. It was a great time to be a Timberwolves fan!

Effing A. I couldn't be less excited. Now, the prospect of catching one of these excruciating contests is nowhere near the top of my list of possible "escapist" ventures on a given night. How are other competent teams allowed to lose a valuable cog and still compete, while the Wolves instantly transform into last year's historically bad team as a result of losing a rookie? (magical though he is; and yes, we've had other injuries to contend with, I realize)

Am I still following the daily boxscores? You bet. Still reading content on CH? Yep - but feeling less inspired to comment, post, etc. etc. And judging by the melting total comment numbers on a given game post, I sense I'm not alone.

Anyway - I'm not going to deliver anything insightful, here. And I know...much reason for excitement as we bring our favorite point guard back for season two; maybe with an off-season wing acquisition. But I just needed to chime in and say "hey, I'm still here." Not very vocal, though. I'm friggin' exhausted. And dammit, the Wolves aren't helping things.
