I didn't have the time to preview it, and I didn't really want to jinx it, but Wednesday night was big again this week.
Everything went just right on Wednesday to get the Wolves closer to the pick from the Jazz that might help them obtain a needed asset.
1. The Jazz won to move to 33-30, and after the help below, moved into the 8th seed with a 1/2 game lead.
2. OKC beat Phoenix to drop them to 32-30
3. Dallas beat Houston to drop them to 32-30
4. LAC beat Denver to drop them to 34-28
Two of these 4 teams will make the playoffs. Denver and Utah are in control now, but these things can change rapidly. The good news is the Jazz are 22-8 at home this season and close the year with 3 straight home games. Their opponents are:
A. Orlando, who is 3-5 without Dwight Howard so far.
B. Phoenix, who is 14-18 on the road.
C. Portland, who is 8-22 on the road and in tank mode.
If they win all 3 games, the Jazz will make the playoffs and have a chance at moving to the 7th seed. If they lose one, especially versus phoenix who already owns the tie-breaker vs. Utah, they will need help to make it. With a little luck, Wolves can start howling about all the possible post-lottery steals available in this "deep draft". Others may start dreaming of how many times they can trade down to get money and inferior talent, but I'll try to keep this positive. Go Jazz!
