Who says "no"...Phoenix/Houston/Wolves Blockbuster

Hi Canis Hoopus Land! I missed you. Who says no to this trade...

Context: The year is 2012 (but the Summer), and Steve Nash has left the Suns. Time for the team to rebuild. Enter...us!

Phoenix gets:

  • Derrick Williams
  • Wes Johnson
  • Marcus Morris
  • JJ Barea
  • The Utah pick

Houston Gets

  • Marcin Gortat
  • Wayne Ellington
  • Martel Webster's expiring contract

The Wolves get:

  • Kevin Martin
  • Jared Dudley
  • Josh Childress' horrible contract
  • Channing Frye's horrible contract

Why Phoenix does it: They rebuild the best way possible, by immediately getting younger, crappier, and cheaper. They'll be selling high on two players whose value might be cut in half sans Steve Nash. They do covet Derrick Williams who could eventually mimic Gortat's production in a featured role. Plus Barea gives them a relatively cheap starting PG. Finally...they reunite Morris Twins. Yay!

Why Houston does it: Slam dunk for Houston. They covet Gortat and Martin isn't that special under McHale. Can't imagine the Rockets saying no.

Why Minnesota does it: Clearly Glen Taylor would be less than enthusiastic about the price tag, but this is the type of trade that has to happen for the Wolves are going to compete for a championship with this core. Martin reunites with Adelman to become a legitimate wing scorer who can create his own shot, while Dudley is exactly what this team needs at the wing. Frye and Childress both have pretty crappy contracts, but that's the likely price we have to pay to upgrade this team. Plus, Frye might not look half bad off the bench next to Pekovic and Rubio, and Childress, while incredibly overpriced, would have been the best wing on the team this year. **This trade assumes Darko is amnesticized and sent back to the Serbian forest.

So I ask you Canis Hoopus Land, who says no to this deal?

p.s. I used to be a regular, but I haven't been on the site in forever. If someone has already suggested this trade, then I apologize.
