I think this guy has a future in this league but he is NOT the solution at shooting guard. He played his first NBA game tonight a rookie out of St. John's 6 ft 6 214ib. The Cavs signed him earlier this week and the only reason I watched/scouted him is because I love the NBA and live an hour from Cleveland so I catch every game I can.
Stat Line 30 minutes. 5-6 (2-2 from 3) (0-2 FT) 12 pts 5 reb 3 asts 2 stls 3 TO and 5 F.
He kind of reminds me of a Gerald Green type lanky build but 3 inches shorter. His jump shot is smooth a nice lefty, twice he pumped a 3, one a finish at the rim, another a pull up jumper. He brought it down the court a lot, he has a natural presence with the ball (not the OMG look or way Wes walks when he has to move with the ball).
The Cavs play by play said he was slotted as a 2nd rd pick last year until he tore his knee up his senior year. I think it looked fine today he just looked anxious on defense playing his first NBA game.
D League stats
15.7 Pts 7.3 Rebs 4.4 Asts 1.6 Stls 2.58 TO FG 45% 3pt 38% FT 82%
I think this guy could be a nice reserve guy for next season in case of injury and possible rotational player. At the least a camp invite should be sent his way this summer. Just restating again he is not the savior at shooting guard but a guy worth a look for a spot on the team.
