Another PF? I get that. But, it's quite possible that we'll go from too many PF's to not enough of them. Think about it, Beasley and AR will probably not be re-signed. Also, D-Will is our best trade asset. If we are to get a wing that is starting caliber, we have a better chance of trading D-Will in a package to make that happen. There are also no guarantees that Anthony Tolliver will be back. We could be down to just K-Love at the 4 spot.
Since I don't feel that there will be a starting caliber wing player at #18, why not roll the dice on a unique talent like Royce White? While he has certain deficiencies like outside shooting and some off the court issues. He also has very unique capabilities. Having guys outside of Rubio that have a high basketball IQ, who can also run the break and set up other players, is imperative. I mean, it was obvious last year, that when Rubio was on the bench or injured, this team had no one that could take control of the offense. White is that kind of a player. Granted, he's a front court guy, but we've seen guys like Anthony Mason or Scottie Pippen run the offense for other teams in the past.
He's a guy who can contribute immediately off the bench, and he has a high upside for the future. He's such a unique talent that could make any team better, as long as he keeps his head on straight.
If he's sitting there at #18, I think he's worth a good, long look.
