As far as I can tell Danny Green hasn't agreed to a deal with anyone. I read that he likes the idea of returning to the Spurs and that Utah is interested. Am I missing something? I think Green would like to be a Spur, but money talks and the Spurs seem less obligated to match a bigger offer (but significantly less than Batum) than Portland.
I've read C. Lee, Rush and Mayo as fall back FA targets. Is there a reason to forget Green? IMO, Green is the SG version of what Batum is supposed to be, a low usage 3pt shooter who provides athletic D. Only maybe Green can defend??? We would still need a ball handler like Schved, but Green does have swing ability at the 3 so he can get minutes there too. I think Budinger could handle a few more minutes than he's been given so far in his career, but Batum would likely limit that. Green/Budinger is less overlap allowing both to be better utilized.
What do the defensive metrics say about Green? Can they be as bad as those for Batum considering Nic's defensive reputation?
Ideally we acquire another ball handling guard and if we really could get Iguodala for less than DWill that is ridiculously good, but Schved would do. We would have the money for that and Stiemsma.
