Kevin Martin Practicing, Flip Saunders Calling, Lynx Celebrating

Greg Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Morning All. It's Just a Cup of Canis.

As if in response to yesterday's article about the players battling for roster spots, we find out from Rick Adelman after practice that it isn't only the players in Wolves camp, but Flip Saunders is calling around to see who else might be available.  Appears that the brain trust remains worried about depth at the wing.

Soon after, Wolfson chimed in with:

Not clear how serious the interest is, in that Doogie went on to tweet that everything is being explored, but it's out there. I'm not alone in not endorsing this idea.  Yikes.  Stick a fork in him already.  Hamilton is 35 and coming off an absolutely horrific season in Chicago.  He does fit the comfortable criteria, however, as he is suitably veteranny, and played for Flip in Detroit.

In the meantime, Kevin Martin practiced for the 2nd straight day, and Adelman reported that he thought he looked fine. In fact, here's a link to the coach's post-practice media availability.

In the meantime, the Lynx are basking in the glow of their 2nd title in three years.  They had a parade and pep rally on Monday that allowed them to celebrate with fans.  Here's a pretty good Lynx piece from Phil Ervin.

Of course, most of the Lynx will soon head overseas to play the winter season in Europe; there is not a lot of off-time for women's professional ballers.  We'll see them again next spring back to try to defend their championship.

Here's another linkto the Wovles site with some player quotes: Rubio, Muhammad.

I kind of like the schedule the Wolves have had this pre-season. A few games early, then a long break that allows them to really work on stuff in practice.  Hopefully this week is helping them.

Gotta say, none of the musical birthdays I found today appealed to me.  So we'll leave that for today, though I'm sure someone will chime in with some music below.

However, Rita Hayworth was born on this day in 1918, Arthur Miller on this day in 1915, and Evel Knievel on this day in 1938.

This thread couldn't be more open. It is WIDE open.
