A month ago, I posted an analysis of the Wolves Demand-Based Ticket Pricing. As promised, I have updated the Google Spreadsheet, and I will highlight some of the changes below.

Back in November, ticket prices to 14 out of the 36 remaining games (39%) had seen adjustments at 3-8 price levels. Now, as of December 13, 29 home games remain (before the playoffs, I hope). This time, tickets to every game saw price increases at 4 to 8 price levels (out of 11).

Here's a rundown of the changes, sorted by average ticket price:

My observations are ...
  • Minnesotans love (or possibly love to hate) the Lakers. I can understand this. Back in January 2012, I sought out tickets to one of the Lakers games (a 106-101 Wolves defeat) because I wanted to make sure to see Kobe Bryant in person before he retires.
  • I wonder if demand for the Bulls game peaked before the Derrick Rose injury. The current Bulls team isn't a lot of fun to watch, but the still high ticket prices might help people choose another game.
  • Superstars from the Thunder, Clippers, and Rockets continue to put upward pressure on ticket prices for their upcoming visits to Target Center.
  • The best bargain, in my opinion, is next Wednesday's tilt against the Western Conference leading Portland Trail Blazers. For some reason, great seats for that game are cheaper than games against the much weaker Jazz, Pelicans, Raptors, Suns, and Hawks.
  • Previously, there had not been any changes to the lowest-priced ticket for each game (upper level corners and baseline seats). Now, the January games versus the Thunder and Grizzlies have seen a small $1 bump to the cheapest seat.
One other item of note, I still have yet to observe any price drops. That would be tricky from a marketing standpoint. If people have already paid higher prices, it seems disingenuous to offer the same tickets at a lower price. In the past, I've occasionally seen deals on Wolves tickets through Groupon or similar deals websites. I checked Groupon and Living Social and I didn't see Timberwolves or any sports tickets at this time.

Again, check out the Google Spreadsheet if you would like to dig deeper.
