Just wanted to know what the general consensus was on the proposed 'wheel' system that's apparently gaining weight.
Personally I'm not a huge fan. I think It could lead to top prospects staying in college a few years to target a team they want to go to or avoid the really bad ones, leading to top teams gaining talent and the teams that really need it missing out. As a fan I dislike tanking but understand why it’s done. Although tanking isn't fun, it gives you hope. If you already knew you had three years of non lottery picks and a team which is very much a lottery team I'd be more put off as a fan than a season of tanking. Also statistically a top 5 team will get a top 6 pick every year. I’m really not buying into this wheel system.
But I'm interested to hear what the rest of canishoopus thinks. Is it better than a lottery system which encourages tanking? Or is it worth stomaching the tanking?
