Though the Target Center is not exactly Xavier’s School of Gifted Youngsters, the Twolves do resemble another ragtag bunch of misfits.
Kevin Love is Wolverine.
Maybe not the leader in a traditional sense of the word, but he is certainly embodies the spirit of the group. His threes are his claws; his rebounding is his regenerative adamantium exo-skeleton and that facial hair. Love is also without a good nickname, and Weapon X would be a good fit, especially with the lack of really good players with X names. Yes, I see you, Xavier Henry
; no you do not deserve it.
Small, European, and in possession of great speed and dexterity. Could also use a good nickname and Bamf! would be perfect. Nightcrawler also has kind of a dark side which has provided some overwhelming emotional issues at times. Ricky doesn’t really seem to have that kind of dark side, but he does turnover the ball a lot.
This is too easy. I don’t even understand how Pekovic hasn’t been drafted into the new X-Men films at this point. Russian: Check. Huge: Check. Underrated: Check. Think about how great it would be to see Pekovic just grab Rubio and chuck him down the court? You know he has the strength for it.
Wingspan, replace the emotional turmoil with Brewer’s recent shooting slump and they are basically the same. Brewer/Angel has always been on the cusp, always a pivotal part of a team, but never a breakout star. Something has always held them back from that next level.
Though his assists have dropped off in the month of December, Barea can muster up some laser like precision when it comes to passes and threes. He does try hard to lead the team when he’s on the floor and I won’t say that his teammates tune him out, but at the end of the day, they’re looking to Rubio and Love for that kind of leadership.
Rogue’s mutant ability was to absorb the powers of anyone she touched, at least temporarily. It’s kind of hard to figure out who Martin is still. His role seems to change whenever he changes a team. Is he the gritty, but injury prone Sacramento King? Is he an off-the bench killer of the Thunder
? Or is he the want to be Ray Allen
heir that he’s trying now?
Burly, but a sweet guy, Turiaf could be all aggression all the time if he wasn’t hampered by his injuries.
If he can get it going, Shved’s shooting will be snowballs into the faces of opponents and leave them feeling cold. Sorry for the puns.
is Kitty Pryde
Coming from a troubled past and tested too soon, Muhammad’s struggling rookie season is similar to the initial arc of Kitty Pryde. However, Pride was mentored pretty fiercely and matured. If Wolverine/Love could take a second from carrying the entire offense and help Pryde/Muhammad, the combination would be lethal.
