David Stern's International All-Star Weekend World Music Preview.

Say what you want about Dvid Stern but it seems to this writer that he has achieved at least one of his obvious goals. The 2013 version of the NBA includes oodles and oodles of international players. According to the only credible source of information I am aware of the NBA had 23 international players on opening day of the 1991-92 season while this season enjoyed 84 such players. This is a significant difference in just over 10 years. David stern must be happy about this. He should be. I for one think the influx of foreign born players makes an already exciting product even more interesting. It has certainly helped our beloved Timberwolves and made Canis Hoopus all the better.

In honor of this I am making this post about a strange genre of music- the Americo-centricly named "World Music" genre. Seriously, what does this even mean? Music made outside of the borders of the U.S.? But it doesn't include the Rolling Stones, right? Does it include Neil Young or Brian Adams? I don't believe it does. So what exactly is "World Music"? I'll be honest and admit I don't really know but I do have a few guesses.

I think it might mean this:

or this

or maybe this

So what do you think? What does the term "World Music" mean to you?
