As a long-time member of the Canis Hoopus community, I know that many of us struggle with the emotional highs and lows of following this team. At times, we even question the healthiness of devoting so much emotional energy towards a hobby that often leaves us angry, confused and bitter.
We're not alone. There are fans all over the country cheering for teams that chronically torture them into a state of near insanity.
This isn't how it's supposed to be. Sports is supposed to be a pleasure and a release from the real world. Yet, many of us are pushed past the point of enjoyment into a dark place. And, we need counseling.
I work in the television industry, and have been looking for the right vehicle that harnesses my passions. I think I've found it, and it involves the tortured sports fan.
I'm casting for a reality show that puts damaged sports fans through an "intervention", trying to help them shed all the bile and dysfunction their favorite teams have injected them with and rediscover the joy of cheering.
This is where you come in. Do you know a sports fan who has been driven to the brink? I know Canis is teaming with candidates, although I think most of us have a healthy dose of self-awareness about the ridiculousness of our obsession.
We'd prefer to cast someone here in Minnesota, but could travel to anywhere in the Upper Midwest if necessary. The person would be compensated for their troubles, but we don't want to reveal that it's an intervention until the moment comes.
Here is the Craigslist casting call if you want to pass it on- http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/tfr/3649864450.html
