Wolves, Mavs, Madness

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

In our Wolves/Mavs game day thread, we continue to think positive thoughts about good movies.

Rubber, 2010

You will either love this one or hate it. There is no in between for a movie about a murderous inanimate object named Robert. However, if you love a good hommage, and you are into movies about the movie watching experience, and if you like tires that kill things with telepathy, then this movie is the movie for you.

Battle Royale, 2000

Director:

Writers:

(novel), (screenplay)

Oh, Katniss. These are the girls you don't want to run into in a dark forrest. If you've ever wanted to know where Uma's yellow track suit came from, here you go. At the cliched end of the day I like to believe that this is one of the best high school movies ever made. Right up there with Fast Times, Heathers, and Breakfast Club. Why don't we make good high school movies anymore? Is Election the last good one?

Zero Effect, 1998

Director:

Writer:

First, Ben Stiller is ridiculous. Let's get that out of the way very quickly. Second, Bill Pullman was spectacular. I'm a sucker for crime/con movies and while this movie just reeeeeeeeeekkkkkkks of 90s Reality Bites slackerism that I'm not sure translates all that well, it's a quirky (in a good way) easy watch that is a nice way to pass a rainy weekend afternoon.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, 1988

Director:

In this Yoda-directed crime/con caper, Steve Martin and Michael Caine do battle only to...you have to watch.

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, 1982

Director:

I can't tell if I like this one because it sends up my favorite genre or if it is actually a decent flick. Probably a little more of Column A than Column B, but...um...well, it has its moments.

OK, that about does it for the day. Our blogging buddies for today's tilt are over at Mavs Moneyball. You can follow them on Twitter at @mavsmoneyball. Be excellent to each other.
