Another reason to shift the locals to the Eastern Conference! Musically loaded cities like Chicago and Detroit finally pop up back to back in the dregs of an utterly lost season? I call bullshit.
The Motor City is amazingly rich with musical history. Since this is on such short notice, I'll just cherry-pick here. First up, there's Motown Records--Gordy Berry's label that produced gems like Marvin Gaye (with Tammi Terrell)
and The Temptations.
Detroit also saw rebellious groundbreakers like The MC5
and Iggy and the Stooges stamp the city with rock and roll credential.
Those cats in turn ushered in Jack White--THE LAST ROCK STAR!
And at the other end of the spectrum, folks like the guileless Sufjan Stevens (here covering The Innocence Mission on a cold Cincinnati rooftop.)
Love him or hate him, he's his generation's (sane) Brian Wilson.
Now, the rest of youse need to put your hands together and show some love for Detroit, Michigan. Do it!
