MIIN-UTA Musical Preview: Paisley Park and environs

I dunno; we have posted a lot of music related to the Timberwolves' homeland of Minnesota, but have we ever explicitly devoted a preview thread to the best tunes from the Land of 10,000 Flakes? If not, let's rectify the situation.

My contribution is an act I came across recently in the car while listening to KRCW, which I highly recommend (the radio station, not the driving in LA part). Some DJ was playing obscure old country stuff from the 20's-50's; among the stuff that caught my ear was a tune with a double entendre that would make PoorDick blush, sung by two sweet-sounding women. I was pleasantly surprised when I googled the Cackle Sisters (I am not making this up) to see that they came from Royalton, MN.

Here's an NPR story on the sisters, whose real names were Carolyn and Mary Jane DeZurik, best known for their unique style of incorporating animal sounds into their yodeling. Carolyn died 4 years ago at the age of 90; Mary Jane had passed away 28 years earlier. Just goes to show you there is always new old music to discover.

Here is "I Love Little Willie," the song I heard (no video available). This site (WFMU) has a lot of their songs and other great music.

I know there is a lot of MN music out there to share - bring it on!
