I've been thinking about this a lot lately and if we were able to select Trey Burke would you even think of trading Rubio for a veteran wing and a lottery pick? It would have to be a miraculous trade to even think of something like that.
For instance, what if we traded with the New Orleans Hornets. They have been having problems Eric Gordon and if they are willing dump him would they also be willing to include Anthony Davis and a lottery pick. My guess is no way in hell they would be willing to do it, but I do wonder here in Timberwolves nation if our fans would be willing to part with our most beloved player since KG. So please don't blast me for this, but I am a huge believer in Trey Burke so I just got to ask. If the wolves do well in the lottery would you accept this trade:
New Orleans Receives: Derek Williams, Ricky Rubio, J.J Barea, and Stiemsma
Minnesota would receive: Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon (Lottery pick this year??)
Remember this is all dependent on Minnesota receiving Trey Burke through the luck of the draft lottery (something as Minnesota fans we all know will never happen anyways).
Timberwolves line-up would then look like this
SG: Eric Gordon/Shved/Budinger
C: Pek/K-Love/Davis/(New Orleans Lottery pick??)
I thought about making New Orleans throw in their lottery as well, but to be honest I'm not sure they would even do this trade. But if the Wolves FO could make them throw that in there I would do this trade in a heart beat.
I'm also not positive if we did this trade we would still have enough money to re-sign Pek perhaps someone with a little more knowledge about the salary cap and it's rules may understand a little better. If we can't I would probably no longer accept this trade unless we got New Orleans Lottery pick this year.
First post sorry if the formatting sucks or the pole is messed up, but I do wonder if people here would be willing to trade Rubio if we drafted Trey Burke
