Yeah. It's my birthday. I have a very short wish-list from the Timberwolves. I want them to keep Pek (I know . . . try to contain your surprise). I want Love and Rubio to have healthy seasons. I want Mary Kay Adelman to be healthy--first for her own sake, second for her family's sake, and eight-thousandth because I want Rick Adelman coaching the Wolves for as long as he wants to coach. I also really want Kirilenko to sign for less money on a longer contract. I love watching him play.
In the category of it-will-happen-or-it-won't: I really want Shved to develop into a Ginobili-style backup combo-guard. He has the tools (as long as he starts shooting well), and he's fun to watch.
Also, I want Canis Hoopus to continue to be the awesome place it's been for me for the last three years. When Tim passed, I foresaw the worst. When the redesign happened, I I got more despondent. When Stop-N-Pop stepped down, I was heartbroken. When Oceanary changed his name, I just about shit my pants.
But most of my friends are still around. Too many to name. And now we have a new Site Manager. I was terrified that we'd get some stranger in here who'd flex his or her corporate all over us. That would have sucked hind tit. I would have been happy had
Oceanary Key Dae (which, for the record, is a much cooler name than "Oceanary") stepped up and taken the mantle. I knew that wasn't likely, though, based on what he'd been saying for the last couple years about his busy life.
And now Eric in Madison has taken the reins of this site. I don't think there could be a better replacement for SnP. Eric has the personability the job requires. He isn't combative. He isn't a stat guy, but he pays attention to them and is able to follow along (something I can't do). And, most of all--he's one of us. Plus, he's cynical. And that means a lot to me.
I was sad to see SnP leave. And I hope he'll come around from time to time, because I always valued his input. But the site has to keep going (has to, goddammit!) and I think this is the best way forward.
So my birthday has gone pretty well so far. I'm still waiting on the Love and Ricky and Adelman and Pek and AK stuff.
What are your birthday wishes?
