A question about all the K-Love trade suggestions

I get it. Kevin if good. You like your team. You would like good players on your team. Playing GM is fun. I often play the 'think of the team we could have had if I was a gm from the future' past draft pick game.

The thing I don't get about these trade proposals is that the logic defeats itself. All these people are saying "you need to trade Love for garbage because he doesn't want to play for your crappy franchise, and our garbage is better than nothing." Ok I agree our franchise is crap and I think K-love will get promoted away, but if we need to ship him because he is going to leave us for being awful, wouldn't you then need to immediately trade him for garbage because he's going to leave your team?

Do you really think that he's itching to get off the Wolves so he can play in Utah or Milwaukee? Those teams are even worse. One fan proposal I saw from Phoenix (how frustrating is it that they hire a new gm and turn the team around in an offseason with players from the scrap heap, damnit flip) proposed a scenario where they acquired Love and then re-signed him for "around 15 million" that's less than his current contract! Is Love really going to take a pay CUT for the honor of playing for the Suns?

Are other teams just hoping to get him for one year just for the hell of it? Throw out some crap and see what sticks? I'd get that. I would trade JJ, DC, Bazz, Brewer, and a late first round pick for one year of Paul George or KD. That would be fun as hell. Is that the motivation?

Also, all these 'trade him to us for crap or you'll get nothing' folks don't seem to understand markets. It would be like walking into an auction house and thinking "I'm so smart, I'm going to bid $1 on everything and then when the time expires I'll get all these things for a dollar each because I'm the only person who has ever come to an auction with the intention of purchasing an item at well below market value. It hurts being so smart!" There are two problems with the 'better than nothing' argument. First, it's not. The Thunder would literally rather get nothing for Durant then that crap basket I hypothetically offered. Second you're not bidding against nothing, your bidding against all the other teams' garbage offers. Yours must be the least garbagy.

I hope this wasn't too long and didn't come off as being too snarky in tone. I'm legitimately wondering. I see so many of these trade offers and I wonder "what is that guy thinking" so I figured I'd ask. Any thoughts or insights?
