Betting on the Wolves: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Philadelphia 76ers

After a thrashing in Los Angeles, the Wolves fell to 4-12 on the year. I took Los Angeles and the over and both hit easily. Tonight the Wolves take on the 0-17 Sixers. Will the Sixers avoid tying the worst start to begin an NBA season or will they squeak out their first win of the year in Minneapolis...

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Trends

  • Philadelphia 76ers are 7-9-1 Against the Spread
  • Philadelphia 76ers are 8-9-0 against the Over/Under

Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Trends

  • Minnesota Timberwolves are 6-9-1 Against the Spread
  • Minnesota Timberwolves are 11-5-0 against the Over/Under
The Minnesota Timberwolves come home after another double digit loss on the road. The Wolves are in desperate need of a pick-me-up which can easily be provided by the 0-17 Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixers are looking to avoid tying the worst mark to open a season at 0-18. Although they have not won a game this season, the 76ers are giving it their all and have lost their last three games by single digits.
Philadelphia will be without leading scorer Tony Wroten and may also be without former Wolf Alexey Shved and Nerlens Noel. If Shved can't go, Michael Carter-Williams will be the only healthy point guard available.
The Wolves know a thing or two about injuries as they will feature a lineup without regular starters Nikola Pekovic, Kevin Martin and Ricky Rubio. Flip Saunders had stated that the Wolves early season success came from having a strong bench to compliment their starting lineup. Now that the Wolves are missing their top three starters, role players have had to fill significant minutes providing a difficult atmosphere for Minnesota to finish games strong.
The Sixers are the worst NBA road team this season averaging under 85 points per game. I think avoiding the 0-18 start provides extra motivation and Philadelphia will attack the Wolves porous defense all night. The Wolves are favored in this one but I'm not buying it. I'm picking the Sixers to win their first game of the season and send the Wolves to a 4-13 start.
Andrew's pick: Sixers +6.5, Under 212 Predicted Final Score: 105-101 Sixers win
