Wolves Roster Observations

I have a couple of Wolves roster observations that might spark some interesting conversations. I have seen some of this echoed in other places and on the CH forums.

Observation 1: I really like what Kevin Martin brings, I like his game and I like how it meshes with Love and Pek, but has anyone ever seen a quieter 20 ppg. scorer? He goes about his business quietly, almost too quietly. Even when he has a monster game, I still feel like he barely makes an impact. It is almost as if his 20 or 25 points don't go nearly as far as Peks, Loves, or Rubios.

While you never want to say no to a semi-efficient 20 points per game. I also can't help but notice that we play much stronger when he is not in the game. We have had some big wins without Martin in the line up. Our team defense and ball movement seem to be improved. This could be a case of other plays stepping up without Martin around, but I cannot help but notice that we are different when he is not in the line up. I cannot help but think he is someone that is utterly replaceable with a slightly above replacement level player.

Observation 2: I love the dimension that Turiaf brings. He has such a positive energy on the court. Even if he is not the most talented player in the world, he brings a joy to the court and you can see that he has an influence that goes beyond statistics. The players seem to feed off him and love playing with him. He is so different than anything else we have yet. His athletic and semi-decent shot blocking help make up for a lack of above rim playmaking. Even if he is a career 15 minute guy, I think he is one of the most important players on the roster. Deng and Pek are great, but I feel like Turiaf brings something that is very precious and unique. He has to be on the roster next year!
