Wolves Draft Talk: Time to prepare for K-Love leaving

Hello my fellow wolves fans! Last night the Timberwolves were given the 13th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, continuing their long history of staying right where they are projected to be. This is quite a deep class this year and it has me a lot more excited than I was last year knowing that we will grab an impact player with our 13th pick. There are a lot of options and to be honest it's really hard to say what Flip ends up doing.

Two words I'm sick of hearing: Kevin Love -- wolves fans who don't think Love will be traded or at the least just become a free agent after the season are wrong and I'm sorry you feel that way. It's time to get over it and start being realistic. Love is such a valuable player in this league and basically every team wants him. The Timberwolves would be dumb not to trade him either before or on draft night. And why is that? Because they will get the best offers for him at that time, whether it's first round picks in a deep draft class or a combination of picks and other key players.

So if love is gonna be traded and the wolves are picking based off filling up the huge hole we would have at PF (no Love and Cunningham is an UFA). I think their best option would be to go with Adrien Payne. This guy is pretty polished and developed into quite the two-way player over his last season at Michigan State. He could be considered a stretch 4 just like Love but he's definitely not the same kind of player. He is much more athletic, and at 6"10 with a 7"0 wingspan he is extremely aggressive and always finishes hard and above the rim. Very physical backing down defenders and either facing up and shooting a jumper or going hard to the hoop. He also can shoot and pretty we'll also. Whether it's pick and pop 3 pointers or trailing the play 3s, Payne has the range to make lazy defenders pay for not getting out to him. A very good shot blocker and intimidates opposing players in front of the basket. My favorite thing about him is that he fights every single play. Whether it's for an offensive rebound or just chasing a ball that's going out of bounds. He brings so much energy every night and it's contagious with the fans and the rest of the team. He has passion and doesn't take plays off. Also off the court he is a tremendous and very classy person. I won't get into it but he had a very close relationship with an extremely sick 7 year old girl named Lacey who had eventually passed away towards the end of his season.

Payne is the best option for this team of love is traded and even if he isn't traded, Payne remains the best option instantly becoming a rotation guy as the backup PF then maybe being the starter after Love is a free agent at the season's end.

I hope you all enjoyed the post and please leave comments! I'd "Love" to hear your feedback!
