3 Way Trade

Just looking for thoughts on a possible 3 way trade between the wolves, cavs, and 76ers (I know, we've all seen just about enough of these)

Cavs Trade: Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins, Brendan Haywood, their 3 million in unguaranteed contracts they just picked up, the Memphis pick, the Miami pick, their 2018 pick, and 2 second round picks.

Wolves Trade: Kevin Love, Kevin Martin, Glen Robinson III, and JJ Barea

76ers Trade: Thaddeus Young, Nerlens Noel

Cavs Get: Love and Noel

Wolves Get: Wiggins, Young, Haywood, the unguaranteed cavs contracts and a cleveland second rounder

76ers Get: Bennett, Martin, Barea, Robinson III, the other Cavs second rounder, and all three first round picks.

Why the Cavs do it: Well that's pretty obvious isn't it.

Why the Wolves do it: The wolves lose Kevin Love, clearly the best player in this trade. They also lose a prospect in Robinson III, but in return they get to dump their awful martin and barea contracts for much needed cap relief and pick up Wiggins, the best prospect in this trade(arguably best under 20 prospect in NBA). They also get Thad Young, a very serviceable PF/SF on a decent contract. And if he opts out next year, they can waive the unguaranteed contracts plus waive or trade Haywood's contract to create north of 20 million in cap space. 20 million in cap space plus Rubio, LaVine, Wiggins, and Pekovic is pretty appealing. (Ricky's big extension is covered by giving up on Shved, and Luc assuming he is willing to sign a Kyle Lowry/Ty Lawson like contract or even slightly above that level) That would enable you to add another max player in free agency to the fouresome there in addition to keeping Buddinger, Brewer, Dieng, and Shabazz. Paul Millsap and Goran Dragic might draw your interest, or you could offer Kawhi Leonard the max and see if the Spurs are actually willing to pay one of their players a full contract anymore. The point is you'd have some decent options to add to a young fun team that would definitely compete for the playoffs. If Thad stays you could still trade Haywoods contract or waive him to create space to sign a decent veteran on a 10-15 million dollar a year contract to round out your roster. The point is, you'd be competitive for the playoffs and still have options.

Why the 76ers do it: Oh 76ers fans, this is a bit rough. This adds at least a year to your rebuild. It's tough to part with one of your best prospects in Noel and Thad is a fan favorite. However, this is also a great haul for a decent player who is probably leaving next year anyways and a rookie who hasn't played a minute of NBA basketball. Giving up those two players and taking on two bad contracts (Barea's for a year, Martin's for 3) nets you quite a return starting with 3 first rounders and a second rounder. Granted two of the firsts are likely to be in the 20s but one (Memphis) could be a pretty decent lottery pick. Next, you get Robinson III, another decent prospect to go with McDaniels in your possible wing players of the future. You also get Bennett, a guy who had an awful season last year but honestly should still wind up being a decent player, especially now that he's in shape. Note that your GM Hinkie, would have done the same trade with New Orleans a year ago if Bennett had been available. Finally, this just about guarantees you a top pick in the 2015 draft which seems to be another key part of your team's current strategy. It means you probably wouldn't field a playoff team till 2016-2017 at the earliest and probably wouldn't compete for a title until 2018-2019(right around when Lebron is finally out of his prime?) but you would have the most long term assets in the league and be able to really start building that dynasty. Also it means in next years draft you're likely to have a top 3 pick(finally number 1 maybe?) a pick likely in the 10-15 range again and another two picks in the 20's (unless the heat really fall off the wagon which I honestly don't think is that unlikely depending on Wade and Deng's respective health situations).

Let me know your thoughts and any issues you have with the deal. The money works out and I think it's pretty fair for all teams involved as far as achieving their relative goals with respect to their relative contexts. Hoping to hear what you have to say though!
