Consensus Big Board for 2-6-2010
So, for those of you who don't know me from other boards.. my name is Casper and I'm a a huge draft nut.
I regularly update various files on my computer that have breakdowns, rankings, quality opponent production, and mocks for draft prospects. I started following college basketball closely as a hobby in 2005-06 (once it seemed the Wolves were on a downturn), and it's grown into something very similar to an addiction that supplements my love of the NBA - to the point where I find myself discussing the draft far more than the Timberwolves play on the court.
Now that I'm done introducing myself, let's get to the meat of the reason for making my first FanPost - this week's consensus big board.

Revenge on Casey's Revenge
One of these years the Wolves are (hopefully) going to have themselves a Magical Revenge Tour through the league; cutting their way through teams that had, at one point, given half-assed efforts, joked through the better part of the 2nd half, stayed out too late the night before because they knew full well that the Wolves weren't going to give them a fight....you get the picture.
Last night was not the beginning of the MRT but it was a catalyst for a few things that we need to talk about below the fold.

GameThread #50: @ Mavericks
With 4 days of rest following their first back-to-back wins of the season, the Wolves head down to Dallas tonight for a roust-about with Dirk and Co. It never ceases to amaze me how willing Mark Cuban is willing to spend to win. It hasn't brought a championship to Big D yet, that Jason Kidd deal doesn't look as bad in retrospect with Devin Harris thus far failing to become the cornerstone New Jersey had hoped he'd be. Moreover, the Mavs appear to be on the hunt for yet another impact player, along the lines of Caron Butler Kevin Martin.
Dallas has lost 3 of their last 4 and will no doubt see the Wolves as an opportunity to get back on track.
The Wolves, for their part, appear at full strength for tonight as of 5:30, and no word yet on starters.
Mavs Moneyball will let you know how much they miss the Dirky, Finley and Nashty days.

NBAfan (Chicago): What's your take of the Timberwolves and more specifically, Rambis' job performance so far? I can't help but question him on a variety of fronts, i.e., the triangle offense with his personnel, erratic use of Flynn and Sessions and his use of Love from time to time off the bench. Just seems to me that he's failed from the get go in not adjusting his system to his personnel. But am I being unfair? Or would any coach look horrible with that team?
Kevin Pelton (Basketball): No, I think that's completely fair. There's a fundamental disconnect between the players the Timberwolves have brought in since David Kahn took over and the players needed to win in the triangle. Now, since Minnesota wasn't going anywhere this season, that may not be a big deal. (Sessions obviously was brought in to flip, though the fact that he's played so little and so ineffectively has destroyed his trade value.) But I think you're hurting Flynn's development by asking him to play a role so differently from what he'll do later in his career.
