Telfair Suspension Confirmed: Three Games

After some confusion due to the Randy Wittman apparently being unaware of Telfair's suspension, a press release from the league today confirms that Telfair will miss time:

NEW YORK -- Sebastian Telfair of the Minnesota Timberwolves has been suspended without pay for three games for pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, in violation of the laws of the State of New York, the NBA announced today.

Telfair will be suspended for the first three games of the 2008-09 NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.

Whether the league properly informed the team, or whether the team's internal communications broke down on this one, we'll likely never know.

It's too bad that he'll miss the first three games of the season, but the law's the law and the league's the league. I hope, and am confident, that this will be the last we'll hear of Telfair's off the court problems.
