It took us all of 4 1/2 hours to drive from Mankato to Bloomington for x-mas related activities and that pretty much ended any chance of seeing last night's tilt. It was a white-knuckle affair the whole way. Open game wrap time.
BTW: I did see that Brian Cardinal picked up 3 fouls in 1:22 of play. Hats off to the custodian. Also, this little tidbit caught my eye at the Strib:
Timberwolves first-round draft choice Ricky Rubio isn't burning up either the Spanish League or the Euroleague in which his Regal FC Barcelona club competes. On that basis, one wonders what he would be doing in the NBA. In 13 games in the Spanish League, Rubio is averaging 5.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals in 18 minutes a game. Through four games in the Euroleague, he is averaging 5.1 points, 4.9 assists and 1.1 steals
Sid is a jackass. Rubio is playing right around 20 mpg in a league where assists are harder to come by and where scoring is more spread out across rosters. Someone needs to tell Grandpa Sports that the EL and the Spanish League are slightly different leagues than the NBA. It will be great day when Sid is finally relieved of his duties at the Strib. What an embarrassment.
