Weekly Recap

I thought it would be a good idea to run down a few things in advance of tonight's (7:00 PM) Summer League game against the Wiz.

  • Pork Chop will be traveling to Spain in the next week or so to meet with Joventut, Dan Fegan and Ricky Rubio.  We don't know if Henk Norel's contract will play a role in any Rubio buyout.  Many media outlets are now reporting that the issue here has always been the buyout.  This is what we have been saying all along.  From the second that OKC picked James Harden, this was about the bottom line; it was a math problem.  It wasn't about Jonny Flynn, Donnie Walsh and the cold Minnesota winters.  It is frustrating that it has taken so long for this part of the story to be covered. Each and every single action from the Rubios (to include his father saying that staying in Spain was a possibility about 15 minutes after the pick) could have just as easily (if not more easily) been attributed to the problem of the buyout than anything else.  Yet, for nearly an entire month we have been treated to nothing but anything else.  I guess a math problem isn't exactly a sexy story for Four Letter.
  • The Wolves lost both of their Summer League games; one to Houston and one to the D-League select team.  Flynn and Wayne Ellington have shown flashes of potential while Corey Brewer has reminded the entire world that he is one of the few professional basketball players who can't handle the ball at a professional level.
  • My favorite player now has a Twitter page to go with the chip on his shoulder after the Night of the Point Guards/AKA Wolves draft 2009.  Something tells me it won't be as media-friendly as this Twitter account.
  • We've had some very good fanposts/fanshots this past week.  Don't forget to check out the sidebar on the right for user-generated content.  Wyn and I really appreciate these posts and we will do our best to make sure that we put as many as we can on the front page.
  • Wyn will be in Vegas to cover the remaining SL games.

Well, that about does it for the weekly wrap up.  I'll try to put one of these out every week.  We'll have an open thread up for tonight's game and if there is any story or interview you would like us to cover in Vegas, please put a message in the comment section or drop Wyn an email at canishoopus@gmail.com

For the sake of this post, consider this an open request for Pork Chop questions.  What would you ask the Wolves' POBO if you had the chance?

Until later.
