And Now a Moment of Reflection for Canis Hoopus

Friends,

Stop-n-Pop and I have noticed an upward tick in caustic, virtriolic comments around Hoopus lately. In an effort to mitigate that trend and maintain the very high level of discussion we're proud to participate in here, we ask you all to avoid instigating or entering into insulting or immature discussions with you fellow community members.

Heated arguments are a natural and expected outcome of sports talk. Sometimes it feels like the best part of being a sports fan. But our goal is to make Canis Hoopus a forum for thoughtful, intelligent discussion about the Timberwolves and the NBA.

Fortunately for all of us, these two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Because of the volume of traffic and comments on Hoopus (thank you!) it's impossible for SnP and I to police every discussion in the community. In fact, we don't *want* to do that. It sucks, it's no fun and it takes up valuable brain power that would be better used on discussing basketball.

While I hope everyone considers how they could better police themselves, I would discourage you from reacting directly to inappropriate comments. In my experience, ignoring them tends to be a better deterrent.

Instead, we encourage community members to utilize the functions built into our system. If you find a comment offensive, insulting or inappropriate please click "actions" and then "Flag." These responses are tallied in the site backend.

And, lest we lean too negatively in this message, please feel free to use the "Rec" function on anything you like!

All that said, as facilitators of this community Stop-n-Pop and I have a responsibility to all other members to, if necessary, enforce the boundaries of what we consider legitimate conversation.

If you have any questions or comments on the matter, feel free to share them here.

Thank you for continually making Canis Hoopus a worthwhile way to spend time.

Wyn
