Wolves Updates 8/8

Tolliver thinks he'll "fit perfectly" with the team and more

From Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune:

Tolliver fits the profile of players the Wolves have been collecting this offseason as they build a team that can spread the floor while they wait for playmaker Ricky Rubio to arrive from Spain: young (25), long arms, plays as many as three positions and can shoot the three for a guy 6-9.

He will back up Love at power forward but also can play some small forward and even can be used in a pinch at center.

"I think I'll fit perfectly," Tolliver said. "It's a passing offense, and I love to pass the ball. It's one of the favorite parts of my game. I think I can do that well ... I'll go wherever Coach tells me. I feel like I have the versatility to play all three [frontcourt] positions."

From Luke Byrnes/Hoopsworld: How the Timberwolves Measure Up

From Charley Walters/Pioneer Press:

The Timberwolves' Corey Brewer is an assistant for Team Europe, and former Wolves assistant and NBA head coach Eric Musselman is coaching in the Adidas Nations top high school basketball players global program this weekend in Chicago. The Wolves' Rob Babcock is scouting the tournament.

...

The Timberwolves figure there's no use in bringing former top draft pick point guard Ricky Rubio from Spain to Minnesota until they acquire some players who can run. But the Wolves definitely are counting on Rubio playing for them rather than trading him.
