So this is what it's like to be on the other end of things.
Earlier tonight the Wolves kicked off their 2011/12 season with a resounding 21 point victory over the hapless and overpaid Hawks, dispatching the overmatched Atlanta squad in a bizarro world version of the long-forgotten Korean Recipe Game Wraps. Here's what the view is like from the other side:
Georgia Mustard BBQ Sauce
- 1 cup mustard
- 1/3 cup vinegar (I prefer cider)
- 1/2 cup honey or brown sugar
- Worchestershire or liquid smoke to taste
- salt to taste
- sriracha hot sauce to taste
Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer for 15 minutes over low heat.
In terms of tonight's action, the essential ingredient was, of course, Kevin Love. His work on the boards and in the mid range on the pick and roll with Ricky F'ing Rubio was positively mustardesque workmanlike.
Michael Beasley played the role of cider vinegar, providing a powerful flavor that must at all times be balanced by something sweet or savory. In the case of last night's game, the sweet and savory belonged to Anthony Tolliver and Derrick Williams, who were able to seamlessly step into the action whenever Beasley brain farts threatened to overpower the proceedings.
The secret ingredient was Senor Rubio. One would not suspect sriracha to be such a natural pairing with southern BBQ, but there you have it. He brought everything together just like we always hoped he would.
Congrats to the new chef and the grocer who bought the goods. What a fantastic way to begin the year.
Until later.
