The MInnesota Timberwolves have had their star player go down with ... an odd injury, to say the least. Kevin Love sat out Saturday's preseason victory over the Chicago Bulls with a sore right elbow. According to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, Love injured his elbow while sleeping on Friday night. Apparently, Love slept with his right arm extended off of his bed all night and that led to some intense soreness that left him barely able to lift a basketball.
Love apparently has a big enough bed to work with, and believes he'll be fine in the next day or so, saying that he's "pretty sure it's just a 24-hour deal." Love did play one quarter in Friday's preseason game, so it's not like there's a serious injury we don't know about, unless it occurred between Friday's game and Saturday's game.
Dante Cunningham and Chase Budinger made the starts at power forward and small forward, respectively. They played with the absence of Love and Andrei Kirilenko, who is dealing with a hamstring injury (which, at this point, appears to be unrelated to his or anybody else's bed). At any rate, we'll see how Love looks in the next preseason game.
