The Timberwolves and Raptors are set to square off for the second time in the 2013 preseason at 7pm tonight. It will be the final preseason game at the Target Center for the Wolves, who will try to go for their third straight preseason win before an 8-day break.
The game will not be televised, but will be broadcast on WCCO radio. I'll also do my best to tweet updates (@timfaklis) throughout the game, and we'll have a recap at the contest's conclusion.
These teams met just three days ago, and Wolves put together a 101-89 victory with the best output so far this year from the starting group.
In Thursday night's game against Milwaukee, the starters, Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio in particular, sat for a majority of the game. An 8 game gap between tonight's game and next Sunday's game against Boston may give coach Rick Adelman a chance to give his starters more time together on the floor tonight.
Questionable tonight is starting shooting guard Kevin Martin, who sat for precautionary reasons for all but 6 minutes of Tuesday's game after feeling soreness in his achilles. He sat all of Thursday night's game, and will likely be a game-time decision tonight. Other than Chase Budinger, Martin is the only Wolves player who will sit due to injury, and the Raptors have no notable injuries at this time.
The only Wolves player on the roster who still has yet to see any time on the floor in the preseason is Chris Johnson. With solid play recently by both Ronny Turiaf and rookie Gorgui Dieng, it may be even tougher for Johnson to find time as the preseason continues. Still, with preseason rotations being as sporadic as they typically are, it's very hard to say for certain.
Derrick Williams sat for the entirety of Thursday's win in Sioux Falls over the Bucks after playing the most minutes for the Wolves in their first two contests. Look for him to get some big minutes tonight.
As usual, no pics, no gifs, and no links to illegal streams. Thanks much.
