OK, this season isn't exactly going the way we all thought it would and the games are increasingly tough to watch and there is a pending sale and I've used too many ands in a sentence and...well, knuckle pushup.
Anywho, I thought it would be a good time to break out the ol FAQ post and see if anybody has suggestions for things that need to be added to the list. First time or newer readers might want to click on through to get a sense of some of the things that go on with the site.
Also, it's been a while since I did a link dump for advanced stats. Here you go (NOTE: I'm leaving out pay-for-play sites like My Synergy and Basketball Prospectus. Solidarity, yo.):
- Basketball Reference: Historical data, box scores, embeddable information.
- 82 Games: Historical data, on/off data, simple ratings, PER differential, 5 man unit stats.
- The NBA Geek: Your home for WP48. Part of the Wages of Wins network. Wolves fan.
- Popcorn Machine: Game flows and box scores.
- Hoop Data: True Hoop site with historical data, shot location information, box scores, etc.
- Sactown Royalty's Advanced Stats Calculator: Self explanatory.
- Basketball Value: Adjusted +/-.
- NBA.com's Advanced Stats page: Self explanatory.
- Doug's Stats: Because spreadsheets need to be populated.
- Minnesota Lynx stats.
- RAPM. (You can read a RAPM primer here.)
- God Is My Judge's NBA page.
- Kevin Pelton's Stats 101 (Still a great reference all these years later.)
My two cents in terms of anyone wanting to use 1-2 single stats to help narrow down player analysis: Use WP48 and RAPM to get you in the right ballpark and then go from there.
