NBA Free Agency Free-for-All Starts at Midnight. Timberwolves After Shooting Guards

Well, 11:00 pm for those of us on Central Time. This is the place to talk about all the rumors you hear.

O.J. Mayo. Future Wolf?

Hey all. So this is the thread to talk about free agency and trade rumors as the market opens, at least for wooing.

Earlier today, I was planning to list all of the rumors I had up to the moment in this article. Yeah. That's not happening. We'll have to keep track of things in comments. However, some of the highlights:

  • Wolves are after shooting guards. We know Flip is in L.A., and we expect him to meet with O.J. Mayo. However, I just ran across this tweet:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Mystery man in story is Kevin Martin, who is expecting to hear from T-Wolves at the start of free agency 12:01 ET - <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Sam Amick (@sam_amick) <a href="">July 1, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//" charset="utf-8"></script>

So that's interesting. Doogie also wrote that the Wolves have just about every free agent wing on their radar, so we'll see what emerges in the next 24 hours.

  • Houston is getting the first Dwight Howard meeting. Yay!
  • Houston is also trading (is this done?) Thomas Robinson to the Blazers for cap room.
  • Which means that Portland probably is not a real bidder for Nikola Pekovic.
  • We need to keep an eye on who else expresses interest in Pekovic, Chase Budinger, and to a lesser extent, Andrei Kirilenko.
  • The Knicks and Raptors are working on a trade that would land Andrea Bargnani in New York. I have no idea why the Knicks are doing this. It's temporarily on hold as the proposed deal doesn't pass salary cap muster, but still looks like it will get done.
  • If you look on the front page below the cover, you will see a link to an article by our friends at Peachtree Hoops. They keep a fantastic up to date spreadsheet of free agent signings. It will be a good reference.
  • Utah is apparently going to go "hard" after Mayo. Go Utah! Bring that on home.
So that's it for now. Let's keep up to date on rumors and news in the comments. And let's have fun on the first day of NBA free agency.
