A few notes for your Thursday

Robbie Hummel Will Compete for a Roster Spot with the Wolves

Gonna do a few bullet points this morning cause I'm not feeling too creative:

  • The Wolves have made three training camp invites official by signing Jeffers, Hummel, and Brown to contracts:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Twolves&amp;src=hash">#Twolves</a> today signed 2013 2nd-round pick Lorenzo Brown, 2012 2nd-round pick Robbie Hummel and free agent Othyus Jeffers.</p>&mdash; Timberwolves PR (@Twolves_PR) <a href="https://twitter.com/Twolves_PR/statuses/383245650072051713">September 26, 2013</a></blockquote>

  • These are non-guaranteed contracts for the three guys who appear to be fighting for the 15th roster spot
  • Ronny Turiaf has been all around town doing PR and charity stuff this week.  He also threw out the first pitch at the Twins game Monday.  Here is a reasonably amusing video of it.
  • Get ready for the annual "He's in the best shape of his life stories to start:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Noticeably slimmer was <a href="https://twitter.com/kevinlove">@kevinlove</a>. Hearing he is down to 238 lbs. Was around 243 during 2011-12 season, when he finished 6th in MVP voting.</p>&mdash; Timberwolves PR (@Twolves_PR) <a href="https://twitter.com/Twolves_PR/statuses/382183638185431040">September 23, 2013</a></blockquote>

  • Media day is Monday, September 30th, followed by training camp the rest of the week in scenic Mankato. Tim will have it covered for us.
  • The Lynx begin the Western Conference Finals tonight against the Phoenix Mercury, who upset the L.A. Sparks in the first round.  The game starts at 8pm Central.  I'll have a series preview/game thread up later.  The game will air on ESPN2, and should be excellent basketball.  Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi on the same court is always worth watching.
